Oh hey tumblr, sorry I dropped off the map. I got hit by a perfect storm of commissions, moving into a house, going on vacations, adopting a new cat, hitting the gym real hard, and lending my tablet to a friend, so I’ve really only had time for random sketchbook stuff. So here are some sketches to show I’m not dead yet.

If you want to keep track of all my whereabouts like a creep, you can find me making semi regular TWEETS and REBLOGS when I don’t have time to draw tons of stuff.

Going to Iceland next week, so I can’t imagine I’ll be super productive again anytime soon, BUT THAT’S OKAY :>

Northern California-based artist Tiffany Bozic (featured in HF Vol. 25) paints anatomically-correct animals that evoke scientific illustrations. Yet her works transcend realism through her imaginative compositions. Using acrylic on maple board, Bozic paints flora and fauna stacked into geometric patterns or bouquet-like clusters, rendering them with soft, pastel hues. She brings order to the chaos of nature, presenting various species in harmony.

The work in her current solo show at Joshua Liner Gallery in New York, “Qualia,” focuses on Bozic’s fascination with interiority… Read more on Hi-Fructose.

A prominent player in Russia’s burgeoning street art scene, Rustam QBic paints enormous walls that feature colorful, illustration-inspired imagery that stands out against the bright snow. The artist recently painted a mural called “Blossom” in Nizhny Novgorod for New City, the metropolis’s first street art festival. “Blossom” alludes to the power of the imagination. As they hunch over their books, three boys’ heads bloom into pink peonies. QBic’s storybook-like murals often feature youthful characters navigating their surreal settings, where mundane objects often transform into dreamlike amalgamations of symbols. Take a look at some of QBic’s latest murals on Hi-Fructose.

rench artist Aurel Rubbish creates ornate paper-cut works in which figures seem to flourish from baroque decorative motifs. The combination of black paper, gold leaf embellishments, and white negative space creates high-contrast, graphic visuals that immediately grab viewers’ attention. There seem to be endless details to discover as the eye moves through the minuscule geometric patters he renders with his blade. The artist just wrapped up his solo show, “New Romantic,” at MathGoth Gallery in Paris. Take a look at his latest works on Hi-Fructose.

Valkyrie, Woodcut, 2013 52”x36”

Finally got around to taking a good photograph of this print. I’m still extremely happy with how this turned out. Now that I’m graduated from college I’m planning on starting some more large scale woodcuts.

She was inspired by tattoos and the gods/goddesses who have control over life and death. The two skulls beneath her are vulture skulls, and she is surrounded by roses. I carved this in a week and printed it at Evil Prints in St. Louis during Tom Huck’s 2013 Bootcamp.
