Great squats! #MyResolution Day 18: PumpUp’s best squats

  • @catherinegrey’s adorable picture wins the challenge of the day! A little furry companion makes squats 10x more enjoyable
  • @limitlesstyle’s kettle bell squats up the ante with added resistance (you’ll feel it)
  • @alexawinter’s outdoor squat is beautiful! (Helps when you have a mountain in your backyard, right?)
  • @lorrin introduced PumpUp to her new fuzzy friend! (Can you tell that we like animals? Because we love animals)
  • khathreehna demonstrates that a couple who squats together, stays together

Love it 😊

Katrina is the sunshine of the PumpUp community - PumpUp Spotlight Series

Katrina is PumpUp’s sun and stars. She never fails to say positive things about other peoples’ progress and she’s gone through an incredible transformation of her own. “In 2011, I didn’t care about what I ate…I never thought about being healthy. My goal changed from being skinny to being fit.”

Some people wake up to a fresh cup of coffee in the morning, but for khathreehna, it’s PumpUp. “I open up the app when I wake up rather than my Instagram or Facebook…It became part of my lifestyle that quick,” reveals Katrina. “In the morning I think about which workout I should do after work…isn’t that funny?” she chuckles.  She joined the community after finding out about it on Facebook 4 months ago, purely by coincidence. “I decided to download it! It has become my most favourite app,” she tells us.

PumpUp really changed the game for Katrina. “[It] became a part of my lifestyle. It’s not just an app to me, it’s been my motivator and my friend as well,” she says. “PumpUp changed everything. I eat healthier and have become more conscious of my food.” Katrina aspires to inspire others, and to gain more muscle mass and get more toned. “Because of PumpUp, my goal changed from being skinny to being fit,” she states. “One of my biggest accomplishments is that I have others asking me what I do to lose weight, what I eat, and what exercises I do. This made me think, that hey, I guess I’m inspiring other people too!”

Omg!!! Thank you pumpupapp you guys are the best and I love you 😘

3-Ingredient Dry Rub Chicken Wings

This is part of a series of recipes from PumpUp member @carolinewaters35.

Follow her blog here

Hello PumpUp!

My name is Caroline and I’m a Nutritionist in good ol’ southern Athens, GA. I’m addicted to every type of workout there is; I’ve tried them all. For now, my favorites include long distance running (I’ve done 2 half marathons), yoga (even though I’m not too great at it!), PureBarre, and HIIT (specifically a class here in Georgia called BLAST).

To balance out my love for exercise, I have to fuel myself with healthy foods! I have a pretty severe gluten intolerance, so I have had to eat gluten free for 3 years now.

I have a blog called The Dank Dietitian and I feature healthy, nutritious gluten-free recipes. Here is one of my easy go-to recipes when I’m craving hearty chicken wings that are low in salt and fat and high in protein!

Why compound exercises are terrific for you

You may have heard of compound exercise, you probably even incorporate some of its aspects in your routine. However, you probably weren’t aware of all of its positive effects, and how it can help almost anyone achieve their fitness goals. Compound exercises, simply defined, are multi-joint exercises that utilize many muscle groups. Common compound exercises include the bench press, the deadlift, and the squat. Other exercises often considered compound exercises include pull-ups, military press and rows. So, what is so important about these types of exercises, and how will they help you to achieve your unique fitness goals?

This is a really good information!! 😃👍

The thirst is real when you’re working out. Though your recommended water intake during exercise depends on several factors, a person should drink around 8 oz. of fluids every 15 to 20 minutes of exercise. Congrats khathreehna and elivkaa for your answering our #pumpupswag question correctly and for following us on Tumblr!
