and it's wild because financebros will tell you rapturous tales of passive income, hands-off investment solutions, whatever, and it's like... they want the same thing! they want to be a landlord CEO or whatever and have lots of free time to fuck around on a yacht or breed horses or golf or whatever! they don't want to work either, their whole goal in life is to work less! but the problem is that they've convinced themselves that what they're doing counts as work, that just by owning things, they're "job creators" or whatever who meaningfully contribute to society (as opposed to the lazy poors on benefits, who are clearly a drain on society). so they've managed to have their cake and eat it too, i.e. they get to demonize anyone who isn't rich who expresses the "lazy" idea of "I don't want to work myself to death," but also, you know, they can still spend all their time doing designer drugs in international waters with 80 of their closest friends.
