I was sitting in traffic for over an hour, and she’s kinda hot was playing, and I just kept thinking about how people love to discredit 5sos. A few days prior, I saw a facebook post about Ashton collaborating with Alex Gaskarth, Joel Madden, Pierre Bouvier, and John Feldmann for a christmas song to raise money for charity, and all I saw in the comments were “ugh why is 5sos labeled pop punk” “why is ashton here” “5sos isn’t pop punk, they are just pop” and it’s honestly exhausting. And all of this because they toured with One Direction. Why is 5sos being discredited for taking a chance of a lifetime to further their music career? They were four boys from Sydney that dropped out of school for this, so why are they being judged for touring with them? Is it because they didn’t “work” their way up there? Excuse me, but before One Direction, they did gigs, wrote two eps, made covers on youtube, and toured with Hot Chelle Rae so yeah, they might’ve not have worked from the straight bottom like All Time Low, but the only difference was that they toured with the biggest group in the world, and what? You expected them to say no? To say no for an opportunity that they may have never gotten again? I am sure as hell no other band would refuse this amazing offer. Artists like Vic Fuentes, Good Charlotte, Alex Gaskarth, Andy Biersack, Oli Sykes, have talked about them and all they said were positive things, yes even your favs like them. They are respected by other pop-punk/punk/rock artists and you people still want to become pretentious just because their music doesn’t fit your taste. 

And also they are still being criticized by some in the 1D fandom, you don’t have to like them, but you can’t automatically say they are trash and they are fuckboys, it’s okay to not like their music, but don’t start with all this extra shit that no one needs. 

5sos can never win and I hate it and I am sick of it, stop being pretentious and acting like assholes just because they don’t fit your criteria of “punk,” the boys have never said they were straight punk, they have said countless and countless of times that they are more on the pop side, but not 100% pop. And also, their lyrics are amazing, just listen to sounds good feels good and then you can have your own opinion about them, but other than that, just stay quiet please.
