The Hanging Tree song + connection to the Peeta and Katniss meeting at midnight.
We see that the Peeta is the “dead murderer” who embodies this, being captured by the Capitol. Meeting Peeta at midnight – like in the song – after the rescue mission, he strangles Katniss which might be because “Maybe his lover was already sentenced to death and he was trying to make it easier”.
The problem with reviewers who are criticizing Mockingjay Part 1 is that they went into this movie thinking Katniss Everdeen is a super hero instead of a teenage girl with PTSD
