tHE NOTES
STOP!!!! I AM DYING!!!!
One of my favorite bands of all time. And also one of Paramore’s biggest influences/reasons for existence is reuniting!!!!
There are a zillion things I could say. Failure are the reason I tuned my first acoustic guitar to Drop-D and basically forgot how to play in standard for most of my teenage years… Failure are the reason that I stayed up most nights until school started and just practiced guitar and wrote lyrics. Their album Fantastic Planet gave me a whole new outlook on music in general. This is a band that, while incredibly underrated and not as popular as they should’ve been in their day, gave birth to so many bands that exist today. I’m so excited about this.
Some of you may know this but Ken Andrews, the lead singer/guitar player in the band, actually mixed our Self-Titled album. It was a huge deal to the guys and I. We honestly were like little kids on Christmas Eve every time we heard he was going to pop in to the studio to hear what we were up to. We owe so much as artists to Ken Andrews as an artist, himself. We wouldn’t be the same band we are if it weren’t for Failure.
Stuck on You - Paramore
In celebration of Failure’s 2014 reunion, I would like to share this cover Paramore did of “Stuck On You” … I was 15 or 16 - we were all babies when we recorded this. Failure wasn’t even around anymore… we were too young to catch them before they “broke up”. Never in a million years would I have believed that 8 or 9 years later I might have the chance to hear the real thing live.
