Happy Birthday, Peter Lorre! (26 June 1904 - 23 March 1964)

“I need the hum of the cameras and the illumination of the spotlight. I will make films until I die.”
“I believe that somewhere within his soul everyone is an actor. Instinctively, we prefer to dream our life away in fantasy rather than to face the hard facts of reality. Dreaming, making a fanciful play out of your life, is so much more pleasant.”

A few months ago, my close friend tom-the-bakers-son introduced me to the awesomeness that is Eddie Cantor.  I'd always known his name, what he looked like but never the details.  Beyond knowing he was a contemporary of the great Al Jolson, I'd never experienced Eddie.  But lovely Cassie showed me a few Youtube videos of him and I was a-goner.  An amazing talent with singing, comedy, humanitarian causes and cute n' sexy as Hell to boot.

Just Youtube his name and check out his songs and comedy.  Also watch his movies (he unfortunately didn't make very many) if you find them on VHS, DVD or airing on Turner Classic Movies.

Hello! My name is Cassie, and I'm a fangirl for William Hartnell. Site Construction is in Progress!

My dear pal tom-the-bakers-son has a brand new William Hartnell-focused tumblr account. Very cool "real life" photographs and stills of his non-Who roles. I love it!  Mr. Hartnell was a very fascinating, complex man and accomplished film actor.  Check it out!

Hey,I just wanted to know, what is it you like about Pat?

I’m not sure I could put it into adequate words, if you want the truth, but I’ll try; something about the sparkle in those beautiful crystal blue eyes. Those absolutely magnificent arched black eyebrows and thick raven hair. That slightly crooked but dazzling smile.

And something about the way Pat put every last ounce of his energy into his performance. It was evident that Pat’s first love was acting, and I adore the passion, vigour and vitality I see on screen whenever I watch him at work. I would have loved the chance to sit down with him and just listen to him talk about his life. Or about anything else, really. Nearly thirty years after his death, I still find him utterly enchanting.

Anonymous asked:

Do those deep lines on Patrick Troughton's face not bother you? Seems a strange look to find sexy.

Odd question, but the answer is no. There is absolutely nothing about Pat’s appearance that bothers me in the slightest. To me he’s one of the hottest men who ever lived.  And considering his formidable prowess with the ladies - something which continued to the end of his life, by all accounts - that seems to have been a popular opinion back in the day.

He always looked like a man, not a boy, something I really appreciate.  I would've gladly had him until his very last day on this earth.
