obviously all the bad parents are Going Through It, but i'm thinking a lot about jawbone, especially wrt adaine.

he's already feeling so many things around her not telling him about the financial issues until she'd already run herself ragged fixing it on her own. about him not being able to help her with it, because he didn't know what she was going through.

she's been doing better with her anxiety, but meds and boggy absolutely aren't a cure. is he thinking about prom freshman year, remembering how scared she was, paralyzed with anxiety? she's stronger now, yes, but so is the challenge she's facing.

he works at aguefort. odds are good he sees her around most or every day. but that day, she's not there, the absence of all the bad kids a reminder that he doesn't know what they're facing or how they're doing, and there's nothing he can do to help.

and, unlike the other bad parents, since they might not know it was a fight-to-the-tpk, since the bad kids didn't know it was until moments before, he almost certainly does know.

half the kids out there are his. and they're all going to die. how do you do your job and help students when you're so helpless yourself?
