Christians who know or are friends with LDS folks hate to bring this up because LDS folks are truly some of the nicest people you will ever meet and they often share so many of our closest values, but LDS are not Christians, they are Mormons.

Jesus is God.

LDS,JW,Unitarians and SDA are all not Christians due to their denial of the Trinity.

Mormonism has its closest parallels to Islam in a way but more or less it's simply not Christian.

Like- 99% of Protestant, Catholic and Orthodox doctrine is the same. We essentially disagree on:

What/who a Saint is,

Who is it appropriate to pray to,

And how to take communion.

The last time I was in a Catholic church even some of the worship songs were the same.

The biggest differences I noticed the one time I went to mass were communion, the odd blend of traditional worship in a not-so traditional building (usually with protestant churches you'll get traditional church-traditional service, vice versa, or traditional church-contemporary service. Not the other way around), and the short sermon. It was like 5 minutes long, preacher was wrapping up right when most protestant pastors would be gearing up.

Otherwise, more similar than different. Almost like a certain enemy wants us to be at each other's throats instead of working together to further the kingdom of God.

Yeah, purgatory too. The closest Protestants come to that is the martyrs rest.

You'll notice I did a funny thing with Catholic in one of my replies.

There's a notable difference between Catholics and catholic.

Capital C Catholics are Roman Catholics typically.

Lowercase c catholics are any Christians who hold to the Nicene creed.

So, us - as filthy prots, are catholic.

To the person who said, "I don't like the phrase "one catholic church," you need to really study church history and understand why the Church Fathers chose that term. The term catholic/kataholis means universal. As Protestants we are a part of the church universal, thus making us catholic, not Roman Catholic.

Also to the Roman Catholic / Orthodox who said, "I thought it was just the Bible alone and whatever Calvin and Luther came up with," you also need to look at church history. Calvin and Luther weren't saying anything novel, but wanted a return to Scripture. Luther in his work, A Simple Way to Pray, recommends praying The Lord's Prayer, The 10 Commandments, and in his Smaller Catechism breaks down the Apostle and Nicean Creed. The Heidelberg Catechism which was composed by Zacharius Ursainus (Contenential Reformed) also breaks down the Apostles Creed, and Nicean Creed. Historically Reformed Christians do not believe it's just me and my Bible under a tree.

Oatmeal raisin are not bad in and of themselves. What makes them bad is the betrayal. I expected gooey chocolate and instead I'm getting this slightly sticky fruit? Why did you hurt my soul like this? Oatmeal raisin cookies need to be kept in an opaque box labeled "oatmeal raisin" to keep from disappointing people and then we'll start to like them again.

Skill issue. Raisins are objectively better than corn syrup and food dye masquerading as chocolate.

I just don’t get it. How can our society act so goddamned normal about seahorses. How can anybody so casually accept that that’s a fish???

This is one of nature’s most anatomically perverse of all beasts. A FISH, like a carp or a bass or a beta is a fish, but it bent its body straight up only to bend its head permanently back down. It stretched its skull into a pipe. It tapered its tail like a lizard, specifically like a chameleon. It can also move its eyes independently by the way, you know, like a chameleon. Fun fact, it can change color to express its mood, like you know whatever does that. It doesn’t properly swim anymore. It buzzes its few remaining fins like an insect’s wings to float itself around at a snail’s pace. It lives its whole life clinging to coral branches or seaweed, which means it decided to become a “tree dweller” in an environment where gravity didn’t even matter anyway. The males get pregnant. They make noises at each other by rubbing some of their neck bones together. Every day, EVERY DAY a mated pair does a little dance and a little neck bone song so they remember which two seahorses they were. They’re a beautiful precious obscenity. Nothing so adorable ever made such a strong case against a logical creator.

They have as little skin and meat as they could get away with. Their skeleton is almost all they are.

This thing is one of the most successful hunters on the planet. Because their mouth is fused shut, except for the tip, they can create a powerful suction force in front of that one little opening in order to draw in prey. 

Lions have a 20-30% success rate on their hunts, depending on daytime and if they’re in a group. Great white sharks, anywhere from 40% to 80%, depending on the size and skill of the individual. Dragonflies, which are one of the most successful terrestrial hunters, can hit about 80-85%. Seahorses? 90% success rate, sometimes more. Only a fraction of their prey escapes that powerful vacuum. They’re incredibly precise. 

If you touch them, they feel hard, because of the skeleton underneath their skin. Their tails are being studied to make coiling bridges, because of how strong that interlocked structure is. Different species range in size from over a foot long, to barely an inch.

Yeah that’s when someone tried to straighten the seahorse back out and it still didn’t look right. The more they bent and mushed it in their hands to look like a fish again the worse they fucked it up until finally they just left it and walked off and hoped nobody would ask who did this
