guys & gun molls ||

A life of crime was something Adelias had practically been raised on, spoonfed it the entirety of her young years, raised to think it normal and no different from any other sort of lifestyle. Her father had been a mobster man for as long as she could remember - and were some little girls talked proudly of how their fathers were lawyers, or firemen, Adele had learnt to keep her mouth quiet, painting a portrait of mystery to conceal herself and her father, even at a mere ten years of age. They just did things she’d say, but she was never ‘round long enough for anyone to catch on - the Moguls moved ‘round too much, until they settled in NYC when Adele was thirteen.

But now she was in her very early twenties, and the gang life was quick to take her under its wing. She’d joined by the age of seventeen, and was already “up there”, possessing a title few in these organised crime circles ever achieved, but having a father so far up the ladder as her own more than helped, after-all. She was a woman not be crossed, or trifled with.  Which was naturally, at word that there was a new guy joining the group, she was curious, but wanted to make it known she wasn’t someone he could mess with, else she’d break his jaw. In the first meeting, things had gone…marginally acceptable. But her father was planning a new heist in the bank of New York, to steal vast amounts of money. This Johnny guy — or Topside, as some called him, was a firm favourite with her old man — she herself, however, told herself she’d need a little more convincing, (though it weren’t true, she herself was rather taken by him.) She knocked on the door to where he was before pushing it open, a gently smoking cigarette sitting neatly between her index and middle fingers, the end stained a little from the red lipstick she was wearing. The blonde took a long drag of smoke, expelling it upwards, before she slowly strolled through with a sway of her hips, shutting the door behind her. “You’s busy, Topside?”

There had only been a flicker of guilt when the old man had taken to him so quickly when he finally met him face to face, but considering it'd taken him months to get to that first meeting Johnny had dismissed the guilt. That and the fact this man was a criminal of the worst sort, yet of the smart sort as well. Couldn't peg a damn thing on him and that was what had made them decide to use him for this undercover.

The captain had said something about his face made people trust him, though he'd never expected to use it for more then helping people while on patrol. Not undercover trying to find proof enough to take down Robert Mogul. He had enough to take down plenty of his underlings and he'd passed some of it along but they told him to keep at it.

Though they had offered their apologies when he'd told them Faye told him to not come home, assuming he'd run off on her because he couldn't tell her the truth. The divorce papers had been a shock but he'd dutifully signed them. Hadn't told anyone it had been a relief more then anything else, she'd never cared for his job, always complained that being a cop was going to get him killed one of these days. If only she knew where he was known.

Shaking away his woolgathering at the knock to the door, he set down the book he'd been reading and was only half surprised when the door was open before he could say a word. He was more surprised when it was Adele Mogul standing in front of him, daughter of the big boss himself.

But she wanted to talk and so he let a smile drift onto his face, fingers lacing together behind his neck as he leaned back. "For you? I'm never busy."

   ”I was wonderin’ when you’d be home!”

Given the fact this was their property and where they lived, there was a reason Adelias was walking around in nothing but her underwear. But in addition to that — it happened to be the first evening she and her beau had had off together in what felt like weeks. And on top of that: it was a surprise. Not for her, but for him.  Adele beamed as she made to approach Johnny, slipping her dressing-gown on and wrapping it ‘round herself, leaning to give his cheek a kiss. “Good time at work, darl?”

It had been a long day, the girls had had plenty of fast paced songs requested of them and while Johnny understood with the tension that was underlying the entire city, his wrists didn't agree. They ached as he shook them, flexing fingers to relax the tension from stretching them to reach the keys. All he planned on doing was falling into bed and maybe watch TV until Adele got home from work.

But when he opened the door he was surprised to see Adele was already home. And wearing-- well considering she'd dressed this way on purpose for him if he had to guess he let his eyes take in the view with a slight smile. Shut the door behind him with a foot as he leaned down to help her when she went for a kiss to his cheek.

"It was long" he admitted, "But not bad. Better now that I'm home."
