Know the difference! ✨

I hope I've worded this well, I'm sleepy, my eyes are burning, I'm going to bed in a sec.

But first, a little vent, need to get it off my chest.

We're all flawed humans, who sometimes make mistakes, and regret them. And sometimes do something out of goodness or with good intentions, but sometimes we might be misinformed, and then we learn better. It doesn't matter if we're rich and famous or not, we're all human.

But some of you, far too many of you, are determined to take things in the worst faith and stick to it, instead of showing a little grace. And for some reason you hold SOME people, and not ANYONE else, to an impossible standard, and then try to cancel them as soon as they slip up according to what you have decided must be the truth.

Rather than remembering the good things about them, the good they've done, or considering their general character. - You're deciding someone's a piece of shit because of a single assumption you made about a thing they did. Where you don't know the full picture. You assume you know how they think. You assume they must know everything about everything. You assume they're a dick for hiring a certain actor for their movie, cause that actor is also a dick according to you, because there is a single allegation against them from over a decade ago, but it's not proven. There was no evidence, and charges were dropped. So we can't know if they're really a dick. We don't possess the facts, so let's move on.

And ignoring/cancelling the indigenous man who's always done what he can to lift up those around him, and especially other indigenous people, is not a good look. He's always been a good person, with good intentions. Nothing points otherwise. Those who know him and work with him have only ever had good things to say. There's always a lot of heart and sincerity in his work.

You sure are quick to do a 180 on someone you yourself used to be a huge fan of, and jump on the hate-bandwagon without proof or facts to back it up. You've just decided something is that way. Just based on rumours or assumptions about something where you only know a small part of the story. Jumping to conclusions. Not allowing some room for error. No benefit of the doubt. Not listening when they say they made a mistake, or regret something, or admit they were wrong. No forgiveness.

And there's no having a rational conversation about it. You've just decided. And you're so arrogant that you think there's no way you might be wrong about something. You double down if someone disagrees.

And then you go around policing what people are allowed to think or who they're allowed to like. As if other people can't think for themselves and make up their own opinion or do their own fact-checking and research. You straight up bully people sometimes.

To be perfectly clear, I'm talking about Taika, obviously. And that stupid fucking letter. (He has since shown support to Palestine, if you even care. I'd post screenshots if I knew where to find them). I'm sure they all had the best of intentions. Who wouldn't want hostages freed? There's a good post by someone about the letter thing. I reblogged it before this.

People are flawed and nuanced, multifaceted. You and me and everyone else on this planet, no matter their status. Everything is grey/multicoloured. Nothing is black and white. People can make mistakes, and regret those mistakes, and be forgiven.

I'm tired.

I've said my piece and there's some other really good posts about this whole thing. And tomorrow I'll continue focusing on the campaign cause I want my fucking captains back, both of them.

I hope @davidjenks and everyone involved in the show feels loved and appreciated. We found community, we found friends, we found family, we even found ourselves thanks to OFMD.

I've been in fandoms for almost 30years, mostly on the fringes but still there to see things. I've never seen something like it. The closest I got to this is Terry Pratchett's and @neil-gaiman 's Good Omens, in terms of self discovery, mutual support, meta analytics and creativity. My long-standing love for The X-Files has led me down many ways and yes we love deep dives into meta, fanfic and art but I never felt as involved in fandom as I do now. I've seen shows cancelled way too soon and I'm still bitter about it (looking at Firefly, The Pretender and American Gothic), now I want to fight. We can't let our hearts be trampled on. We deserve to see our shows, our stories, play out as intended. Without devastating budget cuts and rewrites to appease some corporate suits that wouldn't know creativity and originality if it bit them in the arse.

I know I can't do much from Germany, were we don't even have season 2 and only got season 1 in June, on a shitty provider that doesn't represent the target audience at all. I will try though. I will not shut up about it, I'll donate, I'll create, I'll share and I will write mails/reviews/postcards.

Because this is important.

Because this is about belonging to something.

Once again: thank you @renewasacrew for being our beacon!

We need to be loud and proud (and polite) on all fronts. We need to be heard and seen.

IF THEY CAN CANCEL A FLAGSHIP SHOW THAT HAS TOP RATINGS AND OVER PERFORMS ALL OVER THE PLACE THEN NOTHING IS SAFE!

So, even those that are not Our Flag Means Death fans should consider taking action and join our fight.

Despite this, he doesn't feel he can express himself creatively. Work allows him not to think about the past. Nor did he plan on getting into any kind of relationship. They run into each other at a perfect time, instantly falling for each other and finding a muse in one another. Or Coffee Shop AU but there's no coffee only vodka.

I forgot that now I have published my RBB art of Stede and Ed, I can post some of the pretty coloured wips (before I nailed down a colour theme) and some frankensteined concepts that evolved into the final pieces (which you can see here, in the final fic - written by @luniak and illustrated by me)

I was working very closely with the reference, but it took a while to settle on the golden hour earth tones of the piece - partly to test myself to do something that wasn't just a full kaleidoscope of colours.

Fairy Stede is the best Stede in any colour tbh.

Finally!! I can share something that has been so special to me for months now! As part of the OFMD Reverse Big Bang, I was able to partner with the amazing @luniak for her to write a fic inspired by one of my pieces.
