Fun fact I knew you could get cancer anywhere but somehow was still more stupefied than horrified when my mom found out what she thought was a hernia was actually a tumor. But yeah uh
PLEASE HELP ME PAY FOR MY MOM'S BUTT REMOVAL SURGERY NO I AM NOT KIDDING
The V*nmo is in my bio in case you can't read my handwriting, yes I know I do my y's weird
A huge thank you to everyone who's donated and boosted so far! Mom just had a biopsy today, and while the official results won't be in for a week the doc said the tumor was a lot larger and deeper than they thought at first, so a permanent colostomy (aka they take off the bad parts of her butt, put in a tube for her to use the bathroom out of, and seal the rest of her ass shut forever) is guaranteed from how damaged the skin got from radiation. Knocking on wood that they'll be able to excise all the tumor before it can spread into her left leg.
With the money I got I was able to order three disability aids for my mom: a strap for her bed so she can sit herself up without assistance, a grabber arm so she can pick stuff up off the floor without leaning over and getting dizzy, and a basket for her walker so she can keep her things with her and not have to put them on the seat and worry about them falling over (especially drinks)!
Again, I am so grateful to everyone who has helped me help my mom so far. She's been my rock my entire life, and now I need to be there for her.
UPDATE (7/31/23)
Ssorry it's taken me so long to update this. A lot has happened...like, a LOT a lot.
But! Good news! Mom's surgery (which took 8 hours for each part of it, so like. 16 hours total and change) was a success! She has been Barbie doll-ified...plus a colostomy bag. Mattel might not wanna make a colostomy Barbie though.
The first few days of her recovery she was too hopped up on pain meds to be conscious for any more than a few minutes at a time, but since then she's made steady progress. She can now:
- Sit up at a limit of 40 degrees
- Roll onto her side
- Stand with assistance for short periods
- Eat liquid/soft foods and drink (she was VERY happy to get some hot tea from a nurse)
- Spend most of the day conscious
- Aaaaand use the colostomy bag. Which, yucky, but important!
At first the doctors were worried they'd have to keep her an extra week or send her to a rehab facility before she could come home, but she's been healing shockingly fast for an immunocompromised person, so she might actually be coming home soon!
To all who have boosted and donated: Thank you so, so much. It's been rough, and a lot of other stuff has been happening and/or going to shit in the meantime, so all the support has been greatly appreciated.
