i do care if someone hires someone to clean though like you can’t just throw that out there as if it isn’t well known that those people that are hired to clean your home exist because they’re poor. wash your own dirty dishes

I understand what you’re saying, but you also seem to be ignoring the fact that people who are hiring these poor people to clean their houses are giving those people jobs. If they weren’t hiring them to clean their houses, these people may not have a job at all.

i don’t agree with this logic. i don’t think we need to settle for a job or nothing, is the same to be said for women who work under slavery like conditions in clothing factories in poor countries? why can’t we fight for change instead of accepting that some people just have to be maids

Before she moved in to take care of her, my aunt hired a maid to come to my disabled grandmother’s house once a week to clean for like 2-3 hours and paid her $80 every time she came over. There’s no way my grandmother, who had a bum hip from a car accident and hobbled around with her walker (back when she could even walk), could clean her own house. Maids provide an invaluable service, especially for the elderly and disabled, and they shouldn’t be eliminated just because you think their jobs are somehow not good enough for anyone to be doing. Many jobs like housecleaners, gardeners, etc., are great for people who may not speak the local language, who may have had a limited education, or who came here as adults with limited opportunities. My grandfather, who could speak four languages fluently but his English sucked, became a janitor at the age of 58 to support his family when they first came to America, and his kids always advocated that you should treat blue-collar and traditionally low-paid workers with respect because those jobs are valuable and even someone who cleans toilets is a person who is trying their best. Basically, we shouldn’t try to eliminate these jobs; they should just be better compensated.

There are like 6 cleaning companies in my local area and they’re all run by local women who just LOVE CLEANING

We really need to stop thinking that some jobs are ‘beneath’ people.

If you can’t/don’t want to do something that needs done, hire someone.

But PAY THEM for their value and RESPECT THEM as people

It isn’t humiliating to do basic labor as long as you’re treated with dignity.

^^

I worked as a housekeeper at a nursing home. I love cleaning for people who need help with it.

What I didn’t like was the nurses and admins who treated me, who did ALL the facilities laundry and cleaning (by myself sometimes), because I was a cleaner.

Housekeepers/ Janitors are treated like shit and that has to stop. They work perfectly good jobs that are needed in the world. There is nothing wrong with honest work. What needs to change is how these people are viewed and pay them decent wages, proper holidays and benefits and a say in their company.

there’s nothing wrong with good honest work

literally. by saying who should and shouldn’t be hired on some convoluted moral scale, you indirectly demean their work as being “menial”.

Housekeeping is huge business, one often run by women, and they make good money. They certainly make more than minimum wage where I live. I think it’s more insulting that you are calling them “poor” than the fact that they clean houses for a living.

The attempt on my life has left me scarred and deformed. But I assure you. My resolve has never been stronger!

STAR WARS: EPISODE III REVENGE OF THE SITH 2005 | dir. George Lucas

I’m re-watching Glee with my 11 year old. It’s the first time she’s seen it and she thinks it’s the greatest show ever. We had to watch Les Miserables after watching the Dream On episode (which I forgot had that amazing duet between Matt and Neil).

I’ll never get over my bitterness that Schmece got the proposal, year of wedding planning, house, and pregnancy announcement, and Nick and Jess got……..a 3 year time jump.

The couples should have been reversed.

I feel ya.

I’ll always be salty about this and I literally try not to think of it cause it actually makes me cranky lol I have a problem im too invested. Oops.

It does feel strange that the primary ‘couple’ miss out on all of this evolving in a natural way. If we get to it for Nick&Jess it’ll be fragmented in flashbacks and not have the build up. Boo.

I guess they always had to “save” Ness stuff for the very end of the series not to burn anything too quickly and keep the viewers. But it really sucks 😔

I find it difficult not to be disappointed about it, as the show wouldn’t be what it is without the amazing chemistry and relationship between Nick & Jess. Yet Schmidt & Cece (as much as I like them, and I really do) have had all the great moments in that respect! Hopefully S7 will be very much centred on Ness. It’s what the people want 😂

Just me airing my salty laundry about S7

this was before it even aired, so you can imagine my disappointment AFTER S7 came out. It very much was NOT Ness centred. They screwed Ness, and Ness fans, over - BIG TIME.

I’ll never not be seething mad about it tbh 🤷🏻‍♀️ Nick and Jess deserved better.

It makes me saltier than Winston and Alie got even less focus on their relationship. I wanted to see their crazy-ass wedding

I can’t tell you how many times I watched the episodes up through Mars Landing. After that, I never re-watched anything and there are a lot of episodes in S4-6 I’ve never seen.

S7 was okay, but they could have done the 3 year time jump between S3/4 and gotten a TON of good material out of them all being married. Seasons 4-6 were a total waste.

:::sigh:::
