Hi Tumblr Friends! This is Johanna of the carolcorpsyarnbrigade!

I was shut out of ticket buying for New York Comic Con, as many other people were. In fact, even my dear husband rhymeswithchaos who has gone all the days every year, had to settle for Friday and Sunday tickets because the...

CCYB's fearless founder, Johanna, is looking for a way to get to NYCC to talk about the awesomeness of the Yarn Brigade, the Carol Corps, and fandom in general. If you have a way to get her a ticket, or know someone who has a spare, CONTACT her. She will be most most grateful to find any way to get to NYCC. And since she lives in Brooklyn, obviously she only needs to sort out an actual pass into the Javits Center, not lodging or transport.  Thank you, everybody!!!

We spy with our little eyes supershanee, a recipient of a Carol Corps Beanie knit by the CCYB’s own tigrerosa in the Milkfed Criminal Masterminds e-newsletter from this morning!!!!!

(You’ll remember this beanie as the one she knit with INTARSIA. IN THE ROUND. Aka, she literally punched a dinosaur so hard it exploded.)

Hi Shane! Hi Kelly Sue! We love seeing our work out in public!!!!

Many thanks to tigrerosa and the Carol Corps Yarn Brigade for these awesome Carol Danvers fingerless gloves!  While May isn’t prime glove season, it is prime dino season and I find myself in much need of these gloves’ magical powers..

(Not pictured is the T Rex that was my messy room falling to the ground in a shimmer of clean clothes and empty trash cans.  May the herd of final exams be vanquished in a similar fashion.)

Kick all the dino butt!

Bound off on my first Boston Marathon scarf, picked up Ms. Marvel #2, and after Ingress tricked me into switching away from the plain old backgroundless enlightened logo for my avatar I made it as Ms. Marvel-y as I could.

Scarves are flying off the needles and hooks!!! Carol Corps, you RULE!!!!

Here’s the final scarf and a cropped version of the letter I’m including. I have to go to Kinko’s (FedEx Office whatever) to print it since my color printer is in a box somewhere but then I will mail it!

[Text of the letter: Hi! I made this scarf for the One Year Later project. My sister-in-law ran Boston last year, and although she was nowhere near the bombing, we didn’t know that for a couple of hours, and it was terrible. So my blessings and my gratitude for my sister-in-law being fine are knitted into every stitch of this scarf.

Thank you for making this happen!]

FLY, LITTLE PRETTY!!! FLY!!!!

Also, friends! I saw on the Old South Church's Facebook page that April 5 is a SOFT DEADLINE! You can send scarves in up to the Friday before the Marathon - this means that you have until Friday, April 18th to get your scarves there, and the OSC has said that they will keep handing out scarves until every athlete has gotten one.

KEEP WORKING, FRIENDS! We got this. Higher. Further. Faster. More. (Scarves)

I have decided that I am going to make scarves honoring every lady who has ever carried the title of Marvel, Captain and Ms. alike. Not only are some of my favorite ladies in here, but the Captain Marvel franchise in all it’s forms has brought some great comic loving people into my life.

BADASSERY THIS WAY.

Let's Rap With Cap: Friday Edition - HOLY HELL!!

Hi there, friendly readers of the Carol Corps Yarn Brigade blog! Captain Johanna ( canmakedothink ) here. Thank you, right off the bat, for following us, for loving us, and for contributing to us in all the ways that you do - requests, making projects, sending donations, reblogging/liking our posts... it all means a TON to us.

I have some REALLY BIG NEWS to share with you all.  Back in November, shortly after we started this project, I was contacted by mkcarroll , Assistant Editor for Cooperative Press, who publishes Knit Edge Magazine. Their upcoming 5th issue was about community in the yarncrafting world, and she wanted to include the Carol Corps Yarn Brigade in the issue. I gave her some background info, and some of the members and I contributed little blurbs about projects that we'd make for Carol, Chewie, Kit, Grandma Rose, etc.

It was hard to keep a lid on it, and even harder to wait and not bug poor MK to find out when the issue would run, when the article would go up, etc. I ended up being caught completely by surprise last night, when MK emailed me, to let me know that Issue 5 was LIVE and that I had a free download code for the issue!  If you would like to read about the CCYB in Knit Edge Magazine, or if you'd like to promote our awesomeness to people you know, check here for info on the newest issue, and info on where you can find and download it!

Thank you, again, for all that you do as fans and supporters and readers. There would be no CCYB without the Carol Corps, and there would be no Carol Corps without Captain Marvel and kellysue. Thanks, everybody. We effing love you.

Let's go punch a dinosaur.  Let's go lose contact with the ground, run a little too fast, and fly free for a minute. Higher. Further. Faster. MORE.

xo, Johanna and the CCYB
