5 SECONDS OF SUMMER • TUMBLR IRL • BROOKLYN, NY • 6/26/18
Last night in Brooklyn, we helped 300 lucky fans celebrate one of the biggest bands on Tumblr—the amazing 5 Seconds of Summer (@5sos).
There were fans patiently lined up outside the venue as early as 6 a.m. the day before. It’s easy to be that dedicated when your faves are celebrating their third No. 1 Billboard album.
Like all IRLs, this wasn’t just a regular ol’ concert. This was a one-time only visual experience. Artist Signe Pierce (@signepierce) brought their latest album, Youngblood, to life through radiant light direction, artistic projections, and a holographic photo installation. Every single audience member was given a single rose to keep or toss on stage as they saw fit.
If you didn’t get to make it to the IRL, don’t fret. We’ll be doing a special video Answer Time with the band tomorrow at 3 p.m. EST / 12 p.m. PST on their Tumblr, so be on the look out for that.

JUSTINE SKYE • TUMBLR IRL • NEW YORK, NY • 1/20/18
Last night, Justine Skye (@justineskye) brought back Tumblr IRL to celebrate the release of her first album, ULTRAVIOLET, at Lightbox in her hometown, New York.
Justine joined Tumblr when she was 16 and developed lifelong friendships and memories with other Tumblr members who inspired her to follow her dream of becoming a singer. From meetups in Soho to making YouTube videos together to last night’s IRL, Justine’s Tumblr friends stuck with her since day one and are now her most loyal fans.
At the IRL, blank walls were converted to the visual storyline of ULTRAVIOLET, which is about a heroine who fights off bad relationships and survives on her own. Each song on the album was depicted through comic strips created by artist Yale Stewart (@jl8comic). To finish it off, Justine performed songs from the album for the first time.
At the end of the show, Justine came down to hang with fans and took photos, signed albums and connected on all things Tumblr.
Huge thanks to Roc Nation and NUDESTIX for making this night possible, and most importantly, to Justine for bringing her connection to Tumblr full circle through this IRL.
We’ll be rolling out a few exclusives throughout the week, so stay tuned for those.

Hey, everyone! I’m sure some of you are wondering where I’ve been, and I’m here because I can finally tell you.
I was recently approached by Tumblr to provide artwork for their Tumblr x IRL show for Justine Skye and the release of her new album, ULTRAVIOLET. It was an amazing offer and I couldn’t say no, and I’m so glad because it’s been an incredible job. Anyone who knows me knows that my two greatest passions are comics and music, and to get to combine the two in the way I did for this show was a dream come true. Above is a little teaser image for what you can expect at the show. Speaking of, details below:

JUSTINE SKYE • TUMBLR IRL
R&B/Pop singer and OG Tumblr user, Justine Skye, is releasing her very first album, ULTRAVIOLET, next Friday, 1/19.
The next day (Saturday, to be exact), Tumblr IRL is making a comeback to celebrate Justine’s album with fans in an intimate album release party in NYC. As a special treat, Justine has partnered with comic artist Yale Stewart to perform ULTRAVIOLET live, song by song.
We couldn’t thank our friends at Roc Nation and NUDESTIX enough for helping us put this IRL together.

PHANTOGRAM • TUMBLR IRL • BOULDER, CO • 10/13/16
Phantogram ( @phantogram) and photographer Ben Zank ( @benzank) closed out a memorable year of Tumblr IRL with an emotional performance at Boulder's eTown Hall.
An old church converted to a performance space, the room added breadth to the band’s sound, and warmth to their voices. Ben Zank's dark imagery, meanwhile, created a depth and introspection to a setlist packed with personal experience. As Josh Carter sang “Barking Dog,” which he wrote for bandmate Sarah Barthel’s late sister, the entire room could feel his emotion.
At the end of the show, each fan got to meet Ben and the band, who gave them an autographed photo book. Go here view all the photos while you stream Phantogram’s new album, Three.
