Just wanted to thank you so much for answering my question and sharing your thoughts on the bio! That's disappointing that there seemed to be quite a few negatives though. :( Sounds like it would have been a lot better with editing & more focus (and more of a sympathetic view because Barbara really had such a tough life!!) I'll still read it (probably borrow instead of buy though), and now I'll know what to expect, so I really appreciate your response. :)

you're very welcome =)) and don't get me wrong it's a good book but after such a long wait it was a bit of a let down for hardcore fans like me...It's still a highly enjoyable read especialy for Old Hollywood fans because you really get a feel of the the industry as a whole. Let me know what you think !!!!

How was the Stanwyck biography, darling? I wasn't able to get it myself yet, so I've been reading any reviews of it that I could find - but your opinion would be the one I would trust the most. :) So please add me to the list of those hoping that you'll come back for (if not permanently, which would be awesome but I def. get your reasons not to) a bit to post your thoughts on it. Thanks!

wow =”) thanks for valuing my opinion, dearest gray face. I finished it a couple of days ago after about 3 weeks. It certainly is the most comprehensive book written about Missy and overall I’m pleased.

I do have to point out a few things that bothered me a lot, first and foremost the lack of focus !!!!!!!!!! Wilson completely forgets about her main subject and goes on to babble about people who are only loosely tied to Stanwyck…..3+ pages about the Garbo/Gilbert relationship really ? and what even is up with that bit about someone who lost their husband on the Titanic ??? I guess she lacked a bit of modesty and at times was just trying to show off, she does have a lot of *knowledge* sighs….

The way she describes movie plots extensively, not only Stanwyck’s but Fay’s and Taylor’s as well, it’s also quite annoying and unnecessary. The book needs a lot of editing to put it mildly….

But I guess what bothered me most was her somewhat cold and distant relationship with Stanwyck. I mean I was not expecting a fan book because god knows those can be awful but Wilson lacks sympathy for Missy….. She  mostly seems impartial to her personal life, which is cool because the reader is free to make up his own mind, but one can’t help but notice her siding with Dion….even though Stanwyck’s, admittedly, strict bringing up of the child was not uncommon and certainly the boy’s bad behavior (shoplifting at 7 K) had a lot to do with it .

Idk I mean I was expecting more, I think ??? There are very few things on the book that I didn’t already know and on some subjects I was left confused ( Was she afraid of horses or not ? She had an abortion OK but when, how ? Bob was in love with her, awesome, but why does she later on claims that he had doubts on their wedding day ?)

I’d give it a 3.5 out of 5 and I’m still looking forward to volume 2…… just not as much =/

PS: the story about Bob’s sursprise birthday party involving an embarrassed and naked Stany made my life hahaha

I wish you'd come back, too. You had exactly the same reaction to the Wilson interview as I did. No one else has mentioned the concern over getting close to Dion. Getting too close to a source can cloud objectivity, especially if there's no other compelling source to provide another viewpoint. Here's hoping her professionalism took all that into account, and she will at least come close to hurdling the very high bar our long wait has set.

Awww thanks I might make a special post on the book =”)

Seriously ? No one else mentioned it ? because I was even a bit creeped out by the way she talked about him.Dion was not a perfect angel and yes Stanwyck made a lot of mistakes as mother but the kid was problematic from the beginning and can we please never forget he was arrested for selling pornographic pictures to children ???….Well let’s wait and see !!!

Are you ever coming back to tumblr? It's just not the same without seeing your posts on my dash. [I was just thinking how great it would be to see you return even just for a little while to write a review & your thoughts on the stany biography! hoping you'll consider it, please!] xoxo. :)

SUCH A SWEET GRAY FACE why anon why ??? T______T I don’t even know how to reply. I have no intention of coming back tbh I come here once a week these days to check my tracked tags, but yes indeed I am VERY MUCH EXCITED FOR THE NEW BIO. From the interviews I’ve read with Wilson she seems to have acquired a lot of knowledge about Missy ( she did spent 15 years researching lol) Can’t deny I’m a tiny bit worried about the Dion situation…..it seems she came to be very close to him during the interviewing process and Im afraid she’s gonna try to turn Stany into Mommie Dearest II ugh ……..Anyways Im glad she acknowledged Missy and Bob’s relationship as authentic and put all those stupid lavender marriage rumors to rest ! So yeah I’m sure Im gonna have a lot to talk about after I read the book so maybe I’ll make a special post or something but hey if that doesn’t happen we can always talk if you come off anon =”) thanks for making my day

I thought you said you were going to post more personal pictures of Barbara and Bob. I don't mean to rush you I was just wondering, thanks.

I’m sorrry but I’ve deciced not to share them anymore, in fact Im thinking about not sharing any of my rare Missy, Missy/Bob stuff on here from now on. They are not appreciated and always end up stolen. If you come off anon tho i can email them to you =)
