he didn’t really smile or anything, but his features softened up. he knows the utter pain of embarrassing yourself, so thus his shoulders loosened up & he shook his head.

Oh. It looked like he had startled her. Pascal took the book they were both reaching for off the shelf, flipping through the pages before handing it to her, holding it out for her to take.
“Are you sure? From the looks of it, you were looking forward to reading it. Look, your face is all red from the anticipation.”
Pascal, it’s not very nice to tease. But he smiled gently, using his free hand to point at another set of books.
”It’s alright. I have a couple series I wanted to read, anyways.”
「 ║ █ ♡.]— "--th-that's obviously not the reason why!" all this teasing wasn't helping her blush disappear anytime soon either. reluctantly reached out to take the novel from him, another wary glance passing.
strange, it was also one of the first times anyone had given anything up for her like that. usually it included her awkwardly power-walking away from the situation, but it felt nice to have actually come out on top for once.
a genuine smile directed at the other, nerves couldn't be detected in her voice now.
"--thank you. seriously."
she'd happily turn back to the bookshelf, selection of books nowhere near complete.
"--it's a really good series, though, isn't it? you don't see much mystery mangas these days, so it's like a breath of fresh air." might as well make conversation; there went her entire monthly supply of courage.
