This is probably one of my first night photographs on film, mostly because I’m never really out late, but now with college I find myself out later than I typically would. I love this one because it reminds me of the bat signal or something, it’s very Gotham City. Taken on a Pentax K1000 using Kodak Tri-x 400 Film
This was taken in Brighton Beach. What’s cool about walking around over there is that basically everything is in Russian, all the signs and store names, even the books and movies. It’s as if you’ve traveled to Russia without leaving New York. Taken on a Pentax K1000 using Kodak Tri-x 400 film
This photo pretty much sums up the Coney Island pier in the summer. The guy baking in the sun says it all. Taken on a Pentax K1000 using Kodak Tri-x 400 film
This was the result of an interesting toning chemical, I can’t recall the name but It was something like “Bergs Toning...”. I was working on the awards for the upcoming Coney Island Beard and Mustache Competition and wanted a cool, different type of image to place on the awards. Then I remembered someone had given me this toner that should make my images sepia, and I thought that would be awesome for Coney Island images. I had no clue what I was doing, so all my pictures came out kind of pink...but I guess that makes them even more unique! I feel like I’m finally back in the swing of things...Here’s a photo from Heavy Rebel Weekender, which was a while ago, but I finally finished that roll of film. It’s the hood of a vintage car with the refection of a building. What I thing is awesome about this shot is that it looks kind of like a double exposure, because you can see the windows and sky which look like they’re part of one photo, and there’s the design on the car which looks like a second photo. I just thought the end result turned out pretty cool. Taken on a Pentax K1000 using Kodak Tri-x 400 film
This is another one of those photos from my “I need to finish my roll of film so I’m going to photograph things in my house” series. I love the rough texture of the floor, in contrast to the sleek, smooth surface of the record player and record. Plus, the record is Twisted Sister’s “Stay Hungry” which includes the classics “I Wanna Rock” and “We’re Not Gonna Take It”. Taken on a Pentax K1000 using Kodak Tri-x 400 film
I intended to post this July 4th... but that didn’t happen...This photo seems very “all American” to me, from the obvious American flag Converse, to the race car (which is actually a go-cart), I feel like all that’s missing is one of those glass bottles of Coca-Cola. Fun fact about me: these are my favorite pair of sneakers, if not my favorite pair of shoes. I’ve been wearing them for so many years and they’re starting to fall apart now, but as I like to describe them “they look like they’ve been loved”. I think everyone has that one pair of shoes that they feel that way about... Taken on a Pentax K1000 using Kodak Tri-x 400 Film
I love the candid shot of your friend on the train. It's reminds me of pictures I got of my friend amanda on the train in calgary
Thank you! I would love to see your photos :)
Here’s one more photo from Heavy Rebel Weekender (you can check out the others here). This is probably one of my favorites from the weekend, I’m not quite sure why, but I love the feel of it...to me it looks like a picture you’d find on the back of a CD and the track listing would be on the right side in that dark space... He is from the band The Othermen Taken on a Nikon D3200
This past weekend, like every July 4th weekend for the past 5 years, I was at Heavy Rebel Weekender in Winston-Salem, NC. It’s a killer event with a wide variety of live music and amazing people, what’s not to love?! The bands above are The Recently Deceased, Truckstop Preachers, Fright Barker & Sons, Billy Joe Winghead, Creep-A-Zoids, and The Othermen. All these bands were great so check them out! Last night I had the pleasure of attending the official opening of “Coney Art Walls” which is a collection of colorful murals co-curated by Jeffrey Deitch and Joseph Sitt. The party was a lot of fun and the murals look amazing, if you’re in Coney Island, stop by, there’s food vendors there too. Entertainment was provided by the Coney Island Sideshow, above are Ray Valenz and Betty Bloomerz. Taken on a Nikon D3200
Summer has officially begun! For as long as I can remember, I have always gone to the Mermaid Parade in Coney Island, it usually falls on the weekend right after I end school so it has always been the perfect start to my summer. Here is just a handful of photos I took yesterday. If you’re a photographer who loves interesting subjects you can not miss this event! I don’t know any of people in these photos except the lady swallowing a fish sword, Brianna Belladonna, and last one, Mat Fraser (who was one this past season of American Horror Story) and his wife Julie Atlas Muz. So if you are anyone you know are in the photos above let me know, I’d love to send them to you. Taken on a Nikon D3200
This is one of a bunch of photos I took around my house...if you’re familiar with film you understand the struggle of having a handful of shots left on the roll you really want to finish. So I decided to make a wall of CDs with the CDs I had in my room...that’s basically it... Taken on a Pentax K1000 using Kodak Tri-x 400 film
Hi!!! I just noticed your post about Pratt Institute, I'll be attending Pratt as well this Fall for a double major in Film & Writing!

Right back at ya!
How long are you in photography? And when did you understand that you want to connect your life with it?
Hi! As a kid (around 8 or 9 years old) I got my first point and shoot camera, that point and shoot camera went everywhere with me. I loved the idea that I can instantly capture a moment in time or something I found interesting, and I can take it home with me. Even now, I enjoy looking at old photographs because I love the idea that they’re frozen in time, there’s a quote from Andy Warhol that I think is so true “The best thing about a picture is that it never changes, even when the people in it do.”. So I guess to answer your second question, it was probably around the time I got that first camera and realized I loved bottling up a time or place and taking it home with me. Back to the first question…I started teaching myself the technical and manual aspect of photography about 4 or 5 years ago and I learned film and darkroom 2 years ago.
Life + College
Hi guys! I'd like to start off by apologizing for not regularly updating this blog...I just haven't really been out a whole lot. But I do have a role of film that's just about done and I would like to process this week. That being said, I'm always on here even if I'm not posting, so feel free to say hello or ask me anything (about anything). I thought I would give you a bit of a life update or something since the school year is coming to a close. This fall (2015) I plan on attending Pratt (Institute) in Brooklyn for photography (which I am super excited for). If you know anyone going let me know, I know no one there, or if you have been or are a current student there and have any tips. Thanks!
