IMPORTANT

This month marks 3 years away from an abusive situation i was in for 11 years. Don’t do that to yourself. You deserve better.

So many folks know they don’t want to be abused but don’t know what healthy is. Here go, babies.

aniexty attacks aren't always hyperventilating and rocking back and forth

Anxiety attacks can take different forms, such as:
•Unpredictable bouts of rage or irritability
•Nit-pickiness (obsessive behavior, which may be a part of OCD), and even a hypersensitivity to disarray, chaos, or any sort of change.
•Fast-talking, stuttering, stumbling over words.
•Not talking at all.
•Sitting rigid, staring into space, almost seeming "zoned out."
Understanding the way our or others anxiety works can help to decrease the stigma and help calm a person faster and get them out of that state. There are just a few, but it gives an idea of the range in which attacks can come.

The spread of the black death.

Poland

Poland, tell us your secret.

Poland is the old new Madagascar.

If I remember correctly, Poland’s secret is that the jews where being blamed all over europe (as usual) as scapegoats for the black plague. Poland was the only place that accepted Jewish refugees, so pretty much all of them moved there.

Now, one of the major causes of getting the plague was poor hygiene. This proved very effective for the plague because everyone threw their poop into the streets because there were no sewers, and literally no one bathed because it was against their religion. Unless they were jewish, who actually bathed relatively often. When all the jews moved to Poland, they brought bathing with them, and so the plague had little effect there.

Milan survived by quarantining its city and burning down the house of anyone showing early symptoms, with the entire family inside it.

I reblogged this tons of times, but the Milan info is new.

Damn Italy, you scary.

Poland: “Hey, feeling a bit down? Have a quick wash! There, you see? All better”

Milan:Aw, feeling a bit sick are we? BURN MOTHERFUCKER, BURN!!!!!”

Also, this might have something to do with it: from what I understand, O blood type is uncommonly… common in Poland. Something to do with large families in small villages and a LOT of intermarriage. The black plague was caused by a bacterium that produced, in its waste in the human body, wastes that very closely mimic the “B” marker sugars on red blood cells that keep the body from attacking its own immune system. Anyone who has a B blood type had an immune system that was naturally desensitized to the presence of the bacterium, and therefore was more prone to developing the disease. Anyone who had an O type was doubly lucky because the O blood type means the total absence of ANY markers, A or B, meaning that their bodys’ immune system would react quickly and violently against the invaders, while someone with an A may show symptoms and recover more slowly, while someone with B would have just died. Because O is a recessive blood type, it shows in higher numbers when more people who carry the recessive genes marry other people who also carry the recessive gene. Poland, which has a nearly 700 year history of being conquered by or partnering with every other nation in the surrounding area, was primarily an agricultural country, focused around smaller, farming communities where people were legally tied to, and required to work, “their” land, and so historically never “spread” their genes across a large area. The economy was, and had been, unstable for a very long period of time leading up to the plague, the government had been ineffective and had very little reach in comparison to the armies of the other countries around for a very very long time, and so its people largely remained in small communities where multiple generations of cross-familial inbreeding could have allowed for this more recessive gene to show up more frequently. Thus, there could be a higher percentage of O blood types in any region of the country, guaranteeing less spread of the illness and moving slower when it did manage to travel. Combine this with the fact that there were very few large, urban centers where the disease would thrive, and with the above facts, and you’ve got a lovely recipe for avoiding the plague.

Interestingly enough, as a result from the plague, the entirety of Europe now has a higher percentage of people with O blood type than any other region of the world.

WHY IS THIS ALL SO COOL

When Tumblr teaches you more about the plague than 12 years of school ever did.

Just to throw a nod in, as a medieval historian, this is all credible, and is the leading theory as to the plagues effectiveness at this point. So. Enjoy your new knowledge!

The Conservative government has now officially scrapped all student grants, after passing the policy through parliament without a proper vote.

The financial funding – which was put in place to help the poorest students through university – was put to a legislation committee on Friday last week, despite strong opposition. It was then passed without any vote or debate in the House of Commons.

“(This is) not simply technical tinkering, but a major change by the government,” said Gordon Marsden, the shadow universities minister. “It has been done without consultation, with warning signs already being flagged up by the department’s own equality assessment and wholly without the detailed and proper parliamentary scrutiny such a step-change demands.”

The move is set to affect over half a million university students from low income families, who had previously been given grants of up to £3,387 – an amount that’s barely enough to cover a year’s rent in some cities. Instead, they will now be offered more loans to cover any extra costs.

“I come from a divorced home where my mum’s income is way below the national average despite her working full time,” graduate Emma Chorley told The Huffington Post. “Aside from the monumental mess Student Finance made of my loans in general, I don’t know what I would have done without my maintenance grants. They were generous and essential to the huge amount of students who aren’t able to call their parents to tap them up for money when they’ve run out.”

Given that the average student is now expected to walk away with a gargantuan £44,000 of debt, loading them with more seems almost sociopathic. However, George Osbourne has insisted that the cuts are “vital” – adding that they’re both “fair to students” and “fair to taxpayers”.

“(There is a) basic unfairness in asking taxpayers to fund the grants of people who are likely to earn a lot more than them,” the chancellor explained, after announcing the move. “(This is) vital to secure our long term economic future.” According to reports, he is also examining whether to abolish bursaries for student nurses and midwives.

“This is a very frightening prospect for young people and their parents,” said Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron, after hearing about the plans. “This is a typical Tory reaction, they don’t understand what it is like to struggle.”

“We have worked to target support to the poorest students, removing that vital help will hurt those who need it most. Plans to cut maintenance grants are wrong and we will fight these plans tooth and nail. Social mobility is a real priority and these changes threaten to further entrench inequality.”

Oh no, is the UK headed down the same scholastic road as the US? I’m about $60K in debt (over 42k GPB, 55k in euros) just from student loans, and i’m hardly in the worst situation i’ve heard of. Don’t be like us, please D:

Nooo, but it’s fine that we’re increasing tuition fees because there will be grants available! And it’s still fine we’re increasing them again, because there will be grants available! This is costing us too much, so now we’ve scrapped the grants without giving anyone a chance to object.

Because it’s super unfair that taxpayers have to pay for someone to study so they can earn more working at Tesco when they graduate than we do from our masses of inheritance. Yeah, right. More like so they can dissuade people from poor families from trying to getting a decent education.

How exactly is an entire generation starting their working lives with masses of debt going to help our economy? And who the hell decided our economy was the most important and valuable thing about this country?

!!!!!!!!!! ATTENTION !!!!!!!!!!

16 year old Gynnya McMillen was found dead early Monday morning at a juvenile detention center near Elizabethtown, according to the Kentucky Justice Cabinet. A spokesperson told WDRB she couldn’t give any details, except that it happened early Monday morning, Jan. 11.

According to the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet’s statement, the girl was found unresponsive. Officials did not say where she was found and her autopsy reads that she has “no cause of death,” leaving a lot of people asking questions like how a completely healthy teenage girl was found dead without any cause?

“I’m asking that everyone repost and share my sisters story on your pages and in any groups that will help us get it out there. My 16yr old sister died in custody of a detention center but they’re not giving out any info on how she was found and they’re saying her autopsy shows no cause of death. The news channels only played her story one time. We want justice and Kentucky isn’t giving it to us! Thanks for all the prayers and help. Gynnya McMillen”

The family of the victim is saying police won’t give them any information and not a single media source is covering this story.

Police in the area are said to be “investigating the death.” Which we all know what that means…

17% of cardiac surgeons are women, 17% of tenured professors are women. It just goes on and on. And isn’t that strange that that’s also the percentage of women in crowd scenes in movies? What if we’re actually training people to see that ratio as normal so that when you’re an adult, you don’t notice? …We just heard a fascinating and disturbing study where they looked at the ratio of men and women in groups. And they found that if there’s 17% women, the men in the group think it’s 50-50. And if there’s 33% women, the men perceive that as there being more women in the room than men.
