LMAO

I DIDN’T NOTICE IT WAS ALTERED UNTIL THE LAST ONE

Yes, good. More evidence!

This person was probably just doing this for fun but they just proved how lazy Disney is being when it comes to female faces. I did not know this was Elsa on Rapunzel’s body until I scrolled down a bit. For real, how can you look at this and not see the laziness?

I can certainly see the similarities but I knew from the first picture that that was Elsa’s face and not Rapunzel’s. While I won’t deny that they use similar facial features on some of their characters, there are characteristics on each of their faces that set them apart! Just like how in real life people can look similar to someone else while still looking like an individual!

Disney have been using the same base drawings of the people and the scenery since the beginning, it probably saves them money too but most of all it saves them time and means that they can release a new movie every two years instead of every 5 -10 years like it used to take them! They used some of them same scenery in Princess and the Frog that was in the Little Mermaid and those films are over ten years apart, surely we can forgive them for using slightly similar faces in two movies that came out only a couple of years apart!

You may be able to forgive them but I can’t.

Disney is being lazy. They cannot be bothered to make unique female characters anymore. I would have cut them slack if it wasn’t for the fact that BH6 is using the same goddamn faces again. Gogo is a near copy for Elsa while Honey Lemon should be called Rapunzel #3.

It’s not just lazy but sexist as well. Disney is basically saying that you can only look one way to be considered beautiful. If you don’t have those big, shiny eyes or that nice, little nose then you are out of luck. From using the same models again and again, they’re telling me that women don’t matter enough to have unique faces.

I cannot excuse them for this at all.

I disagree. Disney is not being lazy to me. They’re just working with a certain style. Should they change it up? Yes, but they’re not being lazy or saying you have to look one way to be beautiful. Elsa, Anna, Rapunzel, and Honey Lemon were all inspired/created by Glen Keane. He has a distinct style. Big eyes and little noses are in every single one of his characters, and I don’t see anyone complaining about Belle or Ariel.

Also, Elsa looks nothing like Gogo. Maybe the fake promo of her did, but her in the actual movie? No way.

The left, which looks way more like Gogo and was from the set of fake promo photos, looks nothing like her actual self, on the right. Elsa isn’t sassy and outspoken like Gogo is, she’s very clearly anxious and only gets loud when needed.

And nearly every one of Disney’s female leads have large eyes and a small nose. That’s Glen’s style.

Also, in the above photos, you can clearly see the differences between Elsa and Rapunzel. Elsa has much sharper features. Rapunzel is much more outgoing, with wider eyes and softer features.

You can’t tell me that they look exactly the same. It’s simply not the case. Similar, sure, but not the same. And the only reason it fits so well is because they are drawn in the same style, they have similar features. If I dressed up in my sister’s clothes, I’d look more like her, but not an exact copy. Just because an animation companies have characters that look the same doesn’t mean you can call them lazy. No one complain about Studio Ghibli, and their female leads look a hell of a lot more alike.

(yes I know this is not an official photo, but still, you can see how similar these women are)

If you have a problem with “lazy animation” or “repeated characters”, then you have a problem with nearly every animator or character designer in the world.

Because if you are okay with this:

But aren’t okay with this:

Then I’m beginning to think you are either blind, ignorant to Disney’s art style (which they have been using for years), or have something against blonde girls (with the exception of Gogo).

And rather than complaining about how characters designed by the same person look alike, why not be happy about BH6? There is a TON of POC representation in it, along with female superheroes and scientists, which is what many people on tumblr and all around the world have been pushing for! So be HAPPY that Disney is listening to our voices, rather than complain about how lazy they are while you’re sitting on your computer, fooling around on tumblr, when they are working tirelessly to give you content you like. Why not appreciate them for once instead of throwing them into the fire?

all inspired/created by Glen Keane. He has a distinct style. Big eyes and little noses are in every single one of his characters”

I’m just really amused right now because I feel like you don’t know anything about Glen Keane??? Like, at all???

Here are like 95% of the human/humanoid characters Glen Keane worked on:

Wow!! Look at all the big eyes and small noses!!

Point is, Glen Keane is an incredibly talented animator & artist and out of all the girls mentioned above, he only worked on Rapunzel. To minimize his entire legacy with Disney into his last character is really insulting to him.

Keane had nothing to do with Anna, Elsa, Elsa’s mom, or Honey Lemon. But Disney cannot get over the dollar signs that followed Rapunzel, and instead of leading the way in animation innovation, like they have done since the 30’s, they’ve decided to go with a safe and easy bet and just base all their women off of Rapunzel.

So leave Keane out of this. It’s not his fault Disney is riding ONE of his characters into the ground. Following “Keane’s style” would mean having varied & visually distinct characters—every time.

I saw this couple last night in Bryant Park and asked them if I could snap their photo. After showing them the results, I sat down for a chat. The first leaves were shaking themselves off the trees in the strong breeze and I asked what the occasion for their picturesque picnic was, figuring an anniversary or birthday. The man put his cards down and smiled at me saying, “I have been married to the best girl in the world for 30 years, I am doing my best to make sure she knows that.”

What time is it? Cuddle Time with Oreo. I miss my girl (cat) Stella. She disappeared a few months back, this fool followed me home one night a couple weeks back and won’t leave. I think he has adopted me. So I guess he has a new human. My big dumb over stuffed Oreo.
