Cape Flattery II
The landscape of Cape Flattery’s coastline is so unique. It is covered in great, bulging trees that seem to grow whichever way they choose. Water has carved huge caverns below the rock, causing parts of the mainland to fall into the sea. As a result the entire coastline is made up of massive cliffs and little islands. Probably the coolest part of the area are the little trails that off-shoot from the main path. These tight isles were sometimes only inches from the edge, some of them are so overgrown we had to crawl through. It felt like being a kid again.
In the places where the underbrush opens Emmalee and I would sit and take in the views offered. I was mesmerized by the changing colours of the ocean bathing over yellow seaweed covered rocks. Changing from deep blues to hues of aquamarine and finally white as the water crashed down on stone.
I count myself blessed to see and experience places like Cape Flattery. But places will fade. In a hundred years Cape Flattery will more than likely have fallen into the sea. I find more meaning in the relationships forged in these places. I revel in the bonds made through shared experience and I’m so happy I got to share this place with Emmalee.
