The son’s very thankful. I would’ve called you, but I woke up and all of a sudden I was on my way to Cornwall, because I wanted to practice.
I certainly understand that train of logic since I've done it plenty of times myself. My ex-wife could agree with that much. How often do you go out now?
"Probably something along the lines of ‘you let her propose, dad?’" Her tone became a little higher pitched when imitating Leo, grin on her face widening. "Apparently a lot of people are floored by the concept of the girl dropping down on one knee."
Landon made a face that was some sort of hybrid of confused, startled and amused at Meg's impression of his son. "He doesn't sound like that... Does he?" He laughed because he knew it didn't but it was still pretty damn funny. "I'd imagine so. I am going to get you a ring so I can fulfill that tradition."
Spent the whole day surfing in Cornwall; I’m not an expert yet, obviously, but it’s getting better. And damn, it’s fun.
I feel like a proud mother. I might cry.
Her features softened, her own hands coming up to cradle his face between her palms. “I haven’t considered myself a Todd for a long time now, yet it’s still my last name. So whether my name is Todd, while calling myself a honorary Harrison, or Foster —— it doesn’t matter to me.” She clicked her tongue, “or it does. Ready to leave Todd behind, quite honestly.”
Ready to leave any link to her parents, to Wesley, and to Tim, for abandoning her a second time, behind.
Beaming when he put on the ring, she gave a sunny little chuckle. “There’s also Xander and Emrys; more my friends still, but they like you as well. And Evie, of course.” Pulling him down, she lightly pressed her lips to his, dipping her tongue inside and letting her hand travel down his chest to rest on his hip. “I love you.”
"Guess that makes sense when you put it that way." Though, he was more than happy to have her take his name just the same because she was right, it did have a ring to it. "Well yeah, plus you seem to know everyone in London as well." He stopped being surprised a long time ago when he talked to someone new and they knew who she was. "I love you too, babe." He grinned at her, leaning his forehead against hers. "I wonder what Leo's gonna say."
She pressed her face into that touch, eyes fluttering shut and a happy smile growing once more on her lips. “You and me. Landon and Meg Foster. Has a ring to it, doesn’t it?” A hint of cheekiness at the pun, she opened her eyes and lightly yanked at his shirt. “Well, put it on, put it on. I want to see if I got the right size ; and then you’ve got a rock to show all of to all your friends, huh?” She winked, grinning.
"It does. You'd change your name to mine?" He was mostly asking because he sort of pegged her as someone who would keep her own name for he independence or something - Whatever reason it was that women kept their maiden names. Landon laughed as he pulled the ring out of the box with slightly shaky hands, which was unusual because normally his hands were very steady but the ring fit him no problem and it was a little surreal to see something there again. "You make it sound like I have a lot of friends when it's only really Tristan and Cas."
The tense set of her shoulders relaxed incrementally when he smiled at her and Meg’s own features lit up with a beaming expression, smile so wide it stretched almost from ear to ear. “Really?” With a small squeak, she threw her arms around his shoulders, pulling him down to press their lips together in a soft kiss ; though when she pulled back, there were those nerves again, a small flicker of something akin to doubt going through her gaze. “I mean, I know we’ve never discussed it as such, but I just—- I’ve been thinking about it ever since we came back from California and I know it’s quick, but fuck, I don’t want to be with anyone but you ever again. You’re… it. You’re it.” Her fingers curled in his shirt, Meg looking up at him with wide, slightly glimmering eyes ; feeling oddly, and embarassingly emotional all of a sudden.
"Yeah, really." Landon laughed and wrapped his arms around her waist and this intense feeling of happiness overwhelmed him in that moment. It was almost as if it just sunk in that this was actually happening and he couldn't be more thrilled with it, to be honest. He continued to grin as he listened to her and inwardly, he completely mirrored her sentiments. He hadn't come to London looking for anything but to finish his job but along the way - rather quickly at that - he found something much better. "I feel the same way, baby. You took me by surprise at every turn." Which was a good thing because he needed that. He reached up and cupped her cheeks in his hands, brushing the pad of his thumbs along her cheeks. "Just you and me."
Teeth dug into her lower lip, her fingers fiddling lightly with the object in her pocket; for the first time in perhaps years, Meg was well and truly nervous, even though she had no reason to be. Just say it. Sidling closer, her smaller hand covered his.
"Well, you know what the great Queen Beyoncé used to say about if you liked it, then you should put a ring on it? That’s ——- what I’m trying to do here." Her lips quirked in a slightly crooked grin and she finally got the little box from her pocket, turning his hand around and putting it in his palm. Teeth dug into her lower lip again, voice a little softer. "I know it’s usually the bloke who asks, but ——— we’ve never really been normal, so. Will you marry me?"
Landon was simply confused but perhaps deep down, he knew that he was ignoring the fact that he knew exactly what was going on. Then she went on and Landon simply stared at her, giving no real indication either way of what he was thinking because he really didn't think that Meg would joke about something like this but stranger things have happened, right?
The black box was placed in his hand and he looked down at the ring briefly before he looked back to her. Landon never expected to get married again but he mainly thought that before he met Meg so now all bets were off the table. "Yeah, of course I will." Landon finally cracked a smile at Meg, who was now basically one step away from being his wife and there was something about that which made him feel like he needed to sit down.
