Hello! My name’s Laura and i’m Lakota Sioux!

My family and I abstain from celebrating 4th of July every year because we’ve literally had our lands taken from us, our people brutally slaughtered and our traditions erased by the white people who brought ‘independence’ to this country, and we see it as a big middle finger to Native American people. Naturally, as such, I don’t enjoy seeing posts about this holiday. They physically make me upset, and more often than not i’ll see my mother cry because of people’s blatant disregard for our struggles. 

People tell me to shut up and not ruin their fun every year. People tell me to not be so preachy. People tell me relax. No matter how many times I try and explain that their ‘FREEDOM FUCK YEAH’ posts only apply to those of light skin, people still ignore us. 

I understand that you guys want to just have a good time, and don’t let me stop you, but please have some regard for us today. Please keep the people who’s entire existence was tarnished to make this day a thing in your minds and hearts when you’re eating apple pie and setting off fireworks.

Please just listen to us for once.

It’s true tho

BALTIC SEA AMBER. I went mineral shopping today and happened across some Baltic amber. I have never had any amber in my collection and decided to buy a larger piece. I looked for a “dirtier” looking sample, hoping to find some organic matter within it. After putting it under my microscope with  back lighting, it became apparent it was loaded with cool stuff…air bubbles, plant debris and insects (as shown above). This amber is about 45 million years old, with a 45 million year old insect….insects actually…I found a bunch of them. Baltic amber is known for it’s enclosures of water bubbles, gas bubbles, pieces of bark, twigs, plant seeds and even insects.

I just don’t understand how women can idolize Kim Kardashian, a women with no education, class, or morals, when there are women in the world like Amal Alamuddin. An Oxford graduate, human rights advocate, and successful lawyer. She has beauty, brains and most importantly self respect.

This is so disgustingly sexist and misogynistic. stop pinning women against each other, stop shaming women for having sex or dressing provocatively, and don’t fucking use a lack of education as an insult because a lot of people actually don’t have access to education. Kim kardashian is one of the most successful business women to exist. She took the opportunity to bank on her reality show and create an empire for herself and her family and now she’s incredibly successful. Both of these women are beautiful. Both of these women are educated. Both of these women have the same value. Don’t try to pin them against each other because one of their dresses is shorter than the other.

kim is a fucking floozy. not an idol.
