Not entirely sure of the relationship, but in Season 2 Episode 21 I think a reference to Charles is made.

Hanna, Emily, & Aria go to an address given to them by that guy ‘Jonah’, I think it was.

The thing is Jonah had the information that Ali needed, so she dressed as Vivian Darkbloom, and got the information from him, but never paid him.

The thing is, the information she was asking for was the source of the ‘A’ texts she received, and ‘Jonah’ hadn’t gotten a phone number, just the address.

When Aria, Emily, & Hanna go there, it’s an old closed down law firm, but when Hanna looks it up, she sees the name “Charles Lang” on the list.

I have no clue if this a reference to our Charles.

How Relevant is Andrew?

Andrew in this show is just about as relevant as the ‘k’ in knife.

That Night Theory

“That Night”, was probably hella important to Charles.

He’s done pretty much everything for reasons that aren’t completely clear to us. But, we know that “That Night”, was hecka important if he has Mona wearing the same clothes as Ali was.

So, we know that Charles was most likely there “That Night”, if he knows what Ali was wearing.

I think Charles is in love with Ali, like a brother ofc, and then after he went to Radley (Read My Prev. Charles Theory) and came out, he went to Alison “That Night”.

When Ali rejected him, he hit her and thought he had killed her.

But, when he realized that Ali wasn’t the girl he thought she was going to be, he decided to recreate Mona as her, in honor of Ali.

This way, he could get the perfect Ali without having to deal with the pain of knowing that real one rejected him.

Why Charles Took Mona

So, I think Charles took Mona because after her changed, she most resembled Alison, not physically, but personality wise.

At first, we would say Jenna because when she first came to town, she was Ali’s rival. But, after “The Jenna Thing” she became weak, and vulnerable. These are two characteristics, not in Ali’s personality.

Then maybe Hanna, because she has Ali’s look. But, remember a look is only half of who she is. It’s the ruthless, cold exterior that makes her seem so. . . Alison. Hanna, though scary at times, could never be this person 24/7.

The other girls share certain faults in the “Ali-personality”.

Aria - Too heartfelt, emotional, “compassionate”.

 *Ali’s cruel and unsympathetic. Her mercilessness was not an act. She blinded Jenna and barely cared; then sent Toby to jail and barely cared.

Spencer - Too smart; knowledgeable; logical.

 *Ali did things without knowing complete facts, not everything was a totally logical. She would jump to conclusions and then figure out her own “solution”.

Emily - Too loyal; faithful; devoted.

 *Ali was quick to cut you off, or make you her enemy if you crossed her. There was only one chance with Alison, and sometimes even less than that.

Mona was the only one who, after time, successfully possessed all aspects of her near sociopathic personality. She was ruthlessly mean, cold, unforgiving. No matter how much of an act it was, she was able to be this person 24/7. Mona had the ability to stomp on you and look away.

Mona could have been Ali’s sister.

Charles Theory

So everyone is going for the obvious so here’s what think.

I think Charles might have been the “rejected” Dilaurentis.

He was most likely significantly older than Alison and displayed signs of mental disorder, like multiple personality disorder or some form of schizophrenia.

So his parents shipped him off to Radley and did their best to forget about him. But, Mrs.D couldn’t, so she kept strong ties to Radley to see how he was doing. She probably told him about Alison and Jason, along with the rest of his family, giving him pictures and videos.

But, then she began her affair with Bethany’s father and was focused on something else. Charles then became friends with Bethany and she told him about Mrs. D. 

Charles was released “That Night” or a few days before, and hit Bethany with the shovel. 

He thought that with her out of the picture, he could have the “perfect family”. Charles then went to Alison, telling her who he was, saying they could be a family again. Yet, she rejected him and called him crazy.

Alison broke his heart, so he decided to get his way, he had to kill her and make a new one. 

That’s why Mrs.D covered for him, she couldn’t have her son go back to Radley or even jail.

He made Mona the perfect Alison, the one he heard about.
