Hello Internet

@supinternets / supinternets.tumblr.com

My name is Amanda. I am a graphic designer & free lance artist. I live in a cute mid century ranch style home in Tallahassee, Florida with my husbot Mike and our pack of chihuahuas. My work is inspired by my childhood in Southern California in the shadow of the Hollywood sign & Disneyland castle. Some of my biggest influences include mid century fashion, art & design, old Hollywood, Disney animation, true crime, sci-fi, Japanese stationary & 90s magical girl anime series. When I’m not arting I’m usually caught up in a diy project for the house, listening to podcasts, watching murder shows, lurking at estate sales, reading, crafting, gardening, baking, or subverting the dominant paradigm. My instagram is where I’m most active on social media, you can follow me there for loads more art & kitschy goodness.

The 15th Doctor and his companion Ruby Sunday. My countdown starts today. In 15 days the new series of Doctor Who will begin. I got this idea last week and have been drawing furiously since. I call this my Golden Books style, it’s heavily inspired by the art of said books. The last time I did a countdown had to been ten years ago for the 50th anniversary.

Here, have some warm up sketches of Michael Sheen as Miles Maitland in “Bright Young Things”. I love the way he portrays this character and the costumes are beautiful. The whole flick is a lot of fun, I especially love all the party scenes. His face is a challenge to learn to draw, but once you get it you’ll just want to draw that upturned little nose of his all day.

Some unfinished studies from this week of our new Doctor and Ten w Jenny. Ncuti Gatwa is just beautiful and I’ve been itching to draw him since it was announced he’d be the fifteenth Doctor. I always enjoy the process of figuring out a new face that I just know I will become obsessed w and will be drawing for years to come. I’m a sucker for a good profile so all 3 of these subjects are perfect.

This all started w a photo of Peter Capaldi on Twitter and I immediately thought well he’d be splendid as some alt version of Crowley in the 80s. I had to share this w my dear frand @katiebephoto and then that led us to who would be his Angel. As Katie put it so aptly “stares in Paul McGann”. Sorry to everyone in my feed who can’t be arsed about Good Omens but it will happen again.

Marmite and Vegemite hard pass. My personal fave is an avocado smash w feta and a poached egg on top that my husband makes. We call it a “struggling to cope” because of this Joe Lycett bit that I love.

Me: I shouldn't disturb Neil Gaiman. I shouldn't send an ask unless I really have no way of getting the information otherwise. I'll check old interviews and all the articles that vaguely mention the subject. Of course it goes without saying that I'll read though the FAQ in its entirety. Only then, will I send an ask. However, I'd be very polite and praise his work, as anyone would. I'd also keep it short, because I don't want to waste his time. But I'd keep it very very respectful. I'd be sending a message to a very talented, amazing author that deals with god knows how many like me. Or I'd just stay in the dark and not send him an ask. Yeah, I'll do that.
