It’s like Harry said in that one interview, “It’s me right now in front of you and in the papers, but it’s not all of me”. He gives you enough to keep you engaged and content, but the most important parts of him, the juiciest bits of his being, the rawest corners of his soul, those he keeps to himself. Like I’ve said before, “[…] in one hand you’ve got the moaning, water-spitting, crotch-grabbing, worship-thirsty popstar; in the other is the seemingly introspective, quietly artistic, consistently private, safely monochromatic question mark”. It’s not just about the division between these two sides of him but about the third side, the one that is not and will never be for us. He’s mastered the art of offering you little more than the bare minimum but delivering it in such a way that it feels like he’s placing his heart and soul on your hands. I agree, it’s absolutely brilliant. “[He] engineers this feeling of intimate connection without ever giving all of himself away”, couldn’t have said it better myself.
