“Keep thinking positively hapepy.” Tutankhamun had said as he wheeled himself out of the bathroom. “We’re not the genetic messes we were then. "Our daughter has been stronger and healthier from the start.”
He made sure to do the things that he needed to quickly so he could get back to Ankhe faster, “No it’s hard for me to fully believe too but I do know it’s going to happen.” He said as he pocked the instrument and braced his wife after she stood up. “I’ll get you back on the bed and go make you some.”
Saqer kept a firm hold as he guided Annie back into the bedroom and helped her lay back down before giving her his watch and a stress ball, “I need you to keep time between contractions and this is just in case one happens before I get back.” He smiled and kissed her slowly and with all his love before going in the kitchen and getting some tea started before getting the phone when it started ringing. He was expecting many that day and knew it was most likely Meketre not able to sleep either. This was the first anniversary of their injuries where they were living apart.
“Hey.” He said with a smile as he made up several thermoses of sweet tea for the both of them and made up a large batch of his protein shake to put in the fridge. “No you didn’t wake me your forthcoming niece did. No, no we’re fine and Ankhe wants just me for now. Yeah hang on…” He grinned and put the phone on the tray and carried it into the bedroom. “You have someone who wants to wish us well hapepy.” He set the tray down and handed his wife a cup of tea before putting the phone on speaker while he put his drinks in the small fridge on his wife’s side of the bed.
“I hear little our little miss is ready for the world.” Meketre said with a grin in his voice but there was sadness there as well given what the coming day was. “How are you doing so far honey?”

“I guess I have to make due with holding being over than you and your wife over your head now. No sister or cousin,” she joked, nodding her head “Don’t I know it. If she gets yours and my mother’s height instead of mine, she’d be an excellent dancer with all those kicks she’s been doing.”

Annie laughed as he helped her get up; much as she’d been trying to get up herself she was a petite woman and all that extra weight up front did throw her off balance sometimes. “I thought your mother told me I was supposed to move around a bunch not lie in bed, that’s what got me into this situation in the first place wasn’t it?”

She nodded when he helped her settle back into bed, quite looking forward to something nice and warm to drink, and the colossal amount of sweet that generally went in her tea wouldn’t go amiss either. Grinning she kissed him back, saluting with her free hand as he went down the hallway to the kitchen.

Resisting the urge to look at the clock, since she knew it was absolutely far too early for anyone to be awake, finding no need for the stress ball or paper since there wasn’t another contraction before Tut came back. “I’d ask who in the name of the Gods was calling you this early but I know exactly who it is,” she said, rolling her eyes fondly and reaching out for the cup, still quite amused she could balance things on her belly when she was lying down.

“She is indeed apparently, with particularly ridiculous timing,” she told Meketre’s voice as she took a gulp of her tea, “I’m all right for now really, we’ve got a long way to go yet. First one and all, I’m sure she’ll be a while.

“Okay love.” Tut said simply with a smile before going over to the cabinet where they kept extra towels and the like. “And we have a plan you just haven’t told me if you wanted the shadow right off or not. They only live minutes away so first call is for chart and legal reasons and the second call will be when it’s go time.” He brought the towels over and helped his wife dry off and out of her soaked nightgown. “I’ll be right back hapepy, you will be able to see me the whole time and I’m going to grab you something dry.”
Saqer then quickly went into the bedroom to get his prosthetic leg and his jogging pants on before grabbing the phone as he went into the closet to get his wife a clean nightgown, “Hi dad, I’m sorry to wake you…” He said as he grabbed her favorite maternity nightgown. “Yeah its time but only one contraction as her water broke can you let mum know? Thanks…” He hung up the phone and got a pad on Annie’s side of the bed and grabbed the stethoscope from his medical kit since he knew hearing their daughter’s heartbeat would reassure Annie things were going to be different.
“Here hapepy.” He said with a smile as he came in and helped Annie get her gown on before crouching down and finding Tiye’s heartbeat. His smile became a grin as he handed her the top of the stethoscope. “There she is.”

“I still feel bad waking them up regardless,” she admitted, gratefully accepting the towel to clean up with and wrapping it around herself, “I mean, I get it but I have you here. Nothing bad has ever happened to me with you here and that’s going to be the difference this time.”

She nodded when he walked into the bedroom, vaguely hearing him talking to his father as he rooted through the closet and got himself properly ready. Of course she obviously knew they were going to have a baby, but now that she was actually in labour and she was going to be coming out...well...it just made it so startlingly real. After literal millennia, they were finally going to have a baby.

“Thank you, that’s much better,” she said as she abandoned her towel attire to put a not soaked nightgown on. Not that this one was going to stay very clean but it was still much better for now. Annie grinned right back at how well he always knew her, as she took the earpieces of the stethoscope and listened to the steady beating noise. “There you are, soon you’ll be able to kick abi instead of me for once!”

Handing it back to her husband, she pulled herself up and smiled at him. “Is it weird that it doesn’t seem real still? This time tomorrow she’ll be here and a real little squirming person,” she mused, her hands settling on her belly as her fingers drummed on it, “Me from a few years ago would probably have thought I was crazy....then again me from a few years ago nearly hit her head on a stone bench after I went in you know where so maybe not. Right now me could probably use some tea though, I’m going to need whatever energy I can get.”

“No my love it’s not blood.” Tutankhamun said with a calming smile as he held fast to his wife before helping her sit back down on the toilet after the contraction was over. “Your water broke my Isis that’s all.” The former soldier gently kissed Annie before taking her hand. “Is this the first contraction and I’m going to leave you a minute just to get my prosthetic on and call our parents to let them know it’s time.”
He and Annie had planed to largely do this on their own but he was required to call his mother who was their main midwife for paperwork and legal reasons but both sides their family had been super supportive and they agreed to at least letting them know right off, “Have you decided if you want Meketre to come over now or later?” He asked. Meketre was so close to the both of them and had been their main protecter in their last lives so they had been discussing having him be there to help them.

Annie didn’t think she’d ever been so relieved in her life. She’d been so scared and had no idea what to do; the only other experiences she could recall had all ended badly and had so much blood she didn’t think she could take it again. Carefully opening her eyes she looked down at the floor, since she couldn’t really see her legs, and saw he had been right. “I...I think so...maybe,” she said as he helped her sit down, “I don’t know for sure. I’ve been achy for a while and...well...I’ve never done this properly before.” She just nodded when he said he had to go get his leg on and call their parents, still kind of trying to process the whole thing.

“Later,” she said eventually, after thinking for a few minutes. “I mean, I know your mom’s going to be over and your sister to help her, but I just...I don’t want anyone else to hear it if I can help it. We can wait to call them though can’t we? It’ll take a while and it’s so early.”

“We are brothers my dear.” Vladimir said with a small smile when Anisa reminded him how she reacted to hearing the phrase Boy King. He then took another sip of his tea before gently placing a hand over hers so that she knew he wasn’t offended about the questions. “I have tried to take everything negative she did and turn it into a positive and its people like you that have helped keep me going.”
“Frankincense reminds me of many years in many a church.” He said. “My faith in the Gods was the one thing that could not be taken away from me but I learned about Christianity from my brother and others throughout the years. I was later sponsored into the Templar Order, have served many a pope and christian or orthodox ruler.”
Vladimir left a moment then in order to grab them some more tea and honey since it was now time for him to tell her he had tried to protect her family, “I wasn’t there when Carter and the others did what they did to your husband and daughters’ remains. Tutankhamun and Meketre’s great grandfather’s mother was expecting twins and she had lost her husband a few weeks before so Siddig asked me to help with the delivery and a little bit after. But when we got back to the expedition and I saw… it took four people to pull me off Carter.”

“Are..sorry...are...” she said, sipping her tea, “Of all people I ought to know that. I admit I sometimes have to quickly catch myself and not call my husband my brother when other people are around. I’m just grateful he wasn’t this time around, after everything that happened because of it.” Annie found herself staring into her own mug then, knowing that the reason that they hadn’t had children who survived was because of that, yet they never would have been together if they hadn’t been siblings. It was all a confusing mess sometimes, the old part of her still blamed herself for not having had children sometimes, even though the modern part knew it wasn’t her fault. “Oh, I haven’t done anything,” she said, shaking her head, “All I do is fix old things and live my life. I suppose Tut told you I’ll be moving to the GEM when it’s all done? I insisted on going, I had to follow his things. I’ll be part of the main conservation team when maternity leave is done, it’s an honour really.”

She smiled in agreement when he mentioned the frankincense. “It reminded me of temples too, and of him,” she replied, “It was one of the only things that kept me sane before my death, made me feel somewhat whole again. Funny for the daughter of the world’s most infamous heretic to take comfort in that, but it was the truth.”

Holding up her mug for more tea when he came back, she let the warmth seep into her hands again. On reflex, she shut her eyes and bit hard on her lip when he mentioned what they’d done to her husband. She knew he was alive and well, at the moment he was keeping a watchful eye on a napping Tiye, but she could never seem to help any mention of what had happened sending her into overdrive. “You...you have my thanks for that. Truly you do, and I hope you broke something of his,” she said, finding her voice catching in her throat as she opened her eyes, “After everything I did to ensure he was safe, that all of them were safe, its’ like it was all for nothing. I know he’s very much alive now and so is she, and Gods willing our other daughter will be too someday, but what he did...it’s like spitting in the face of everything I did!”

“I took the liberty of asking your husband before hand how you prefer your tea.” Vladimir had said as he took a sip of his own before they headed outside. “He is not much different to be honest.”
The older man sat listening to the young woman with his head slightly cocked to the side so that he could better hear her and took a moment to gather his thoughts before continuing, “History is often unkind in the fact that it can venerate some and vilify others.” The knight said with a deep understanding in his voice and sadness in his dark eyes. “And legends can be even crueler.” The Sarmatian/Celt sat fingering his signet ring for a moment. “Artur and I long ago decided to let the world have the chivalry and majesty written down long after us but it does not mean we are totally alright with it.”
“Our father is made out to be a lecherous rapist willing to kill his rival in order to get the woman he wanted and our mother complicit in some cases. Our sister is made out to be a woman bent on revenge and willing to commit incest in order to achieve her goals and her son a twisted result bent on murdering his father… while I am seen as the ultimate adulator and betrayer.” He looked away for a moment so that Anisa couldn’t see the hurt and anger that flashed across his face as he prepared to tell her how he fit into the whole mess that was Arthurian Legend. “You know that my brother is the historical root to King Arthur but what you do not know is that I am Lancelot…”
He looked at her again as he rolled up the sleeve of his jacket and long armed shirt so that she could see the tattoo and brand that once marked him as a Roman slave, “I was eight years old when Rome came knocking on my paternal grandmother’s door in what is now Romania looking for overdue tribute and she had no problem selling me in order to save her usurped throne and told them my name was Lancelot.”
“That ultimately kept me alive since there was a standing order for any male in the Drăculești line to be killed but I was a slave off and on until I was freed by the King of Jerusalem in 1172.” Vladimir closed his eyes for a moment and gripped his mug tightly for a moment before giving her another understanding look. “No it was not.” He said in regards to her reaction when visiting the tomb. “It was the beginning of your reawakening and is completely normal.”

“That and we’ve been on your plane with you,” she replied, laughing a little “He’s not quite as bad as me. He wasn’t the one raiding the kitchens trying to sweettalk the servants into sweets when we were little. He was usually in the Library instead.”

Anisa quickly nodded her head in agreement with his statement about history and legends. “Don’t I know it. I’ve come so close to whacking people with artifacts at work for saying the phrase Boy King around me more times than I can count,” she agreed, gratefully sipping the warm tea. (Never again would she complain about the heat when they got home, she vowed, though she didn’t have complaints about being kept warm during the night).

Of course she knew stories about King Arthur and his knights, it was still not quite settled in her head that THE Arthur was the giant bear that roamed about, but they’d never been more than a passing interest to her before. She had a vague idea of the story, of Guinevere and Lancelot, swords in ponds and all that other mystical stuff that most people drooled over but that was about it. Listening to his story she was horrified how badly they’d twisted everything, and was shocked to see the mark on his arm.

“You’re really one of the most famous knights in the world? And you two were brothers? I never knew that,” she said, quickly setting her cup down, “And...I mean...not that what she did was a good thing but her giving you a different name saved you right? So you could find your family again after you were freed?”. Annie knew all too well what the pain of being separated from your family was like, in the end she’d been all that was left. Politely she averted her eyes when he had his moment, she would never in a million years want to offend anyone about a situation like this.

“I guess it was thinking back now. That and when my sister, my oldest one, made me smell this frankincense based perfume not long before that. She said it was way to strong and shoved it under my nose and I swear my legs buckled.” She did smile saying that though, most people still thought it was an extremely strong scent, but to her it was her absolute favourite. “At the time I just felt so bad for worrying everyone and concerned I was losing my marbles. I let them get me some water and insisted they go back in if they wanted while I sat and rested. No earthly or unearthly power is ever getting me back in there though, I couldn’t then and definitely not now.”

“Hello my dear.” Vladimir said with a kind smile when Anisa came into the kitchens of the old tavern. He had been expecting her to seek him out considering was a day she was having a hard time handling and the knight immediately handed her a cup of calming tea. “I find sometimes the best way to start a difficult conversation is with a good cup of tea."
He led her out into the courtyard and to one of the tables before sitting down next to her. "I know what you want to talk about and I want to start by assuring you I know exactly where you are right now and I’m glad you’ve come to me since I can and am willing to give you answers no one else can. It’s up to where you want to start and we have all the time in the world.”

“Hello,” she said, smiling back and pulling her sweater around her shoulders. Annie was fairly sure she’d never get used to what felt like such a chill there, it had her longing for the warm breezes of home. She took the cup from him and wrapped her hands around it, reveling in the warmth. She took a brief sip and shook her head in amusement. “Basically honey with a little bit of tea in it. Perfect,” she said with a laugh, nodding her head and following him outside.

It was a difficult day all around, it had always made her so angry how celebrated it was even before she knew the truth, and now it just brought up far to many things she had exactly zero desire to deal with. “He’s right though,” she thought as she sat down at the table, “No one else really can entirely understand aside from Tut.”

“I was always angry about the veneration he gets, even before I remembered everything,” she began, still finding it hard to believe it was a little over a year since she had, “I could never understand how anyone who did what Carter did to what I know now is my family could be so revered...it makes me physically ill to think about it.” Nervously twisting her ring she stared at her cup for a second before continuing. “I went in there once, a few years ago with school. I’d seen pictures before, everyone has, but when I saw....when I saw him in person...I ran. They found me outside passed out on a bench and we all just assumed it was heat stroke or something. I guess I know it wasn’t now right?”

Continued from HERE:
“Hardy hapepy.” Tutankhamun said with one of his crooked grins as Vladimir’s vampire grandson Vlad and distant cousin Nicholas came out to help with the bags and tiny Tiye’s things. The young former soldier wrapped a loving arm around his wife and daughter after being relived of the baby carrier.
“You are hardly old my dear considering my vast age and this actually is our residence so this part of my brother’s estate isn’t open to the public so you will not be bothered by anyone other then family we have in from New York.” Vladimir said as a handful of giggling children came running past just after he made the statement followed by one of the Sarmatian/Celt’s many lookalike descendants.
“Tutankhamun and Meketre Saqr!” The older man’s accent was thickly Romanian but his Arabic was clear as he pulled the two brothers into a quick hug before smiling brightly when he saw Annie and the baby. “It’s wonderful to finally meet you.” He said as he stepped back.
“This is Vladimir Hoffman hapepy.” Tut said as he happily introduced a man that was a good friend often called their home and Annie had spoken to many times since Hoffman was a doctor, a fellow soldier that lived with PTSD and was part of the older Vladimir’s UNHCR team that had helped save Tutankhamun and Meketre. “How much of the family is here?” He asked the older man.
“Just Lada, me, our younger children and Damek.” Hoffman said with a smile as his wife came in with an extra large Eurasian Brown Bear.
“It’s all right my dear.” The older Vladimir said when he saw the look of shock on Anisa’s face when his brother lumbered into the room and slowly came over to the group. “This is my brother Artur.”
“Hello my dear.” The gray/green eyed bear said telepathically as he sat down in front of the young woman. “And welcome to Fort Camboglanna.”
“May I hold the little one?” The older Vladimir finally got up the courage to ask. “Babies are a true blessing to us and she is especially one since she is a reborn soul that will finally get to live.”
“My brother and I would like to give her our royal blessings.” Artur said with a kind smile.

“Your Abi thinks he’s being funny but it’s true,” she said, grinning at Tiye who was finding her fingers the most interesting thing in the world at the moment, “I remember him being born before, if that doesn’t make me old I don’t know what does.” Annie just smiled at the people taking their things for them, leaning up against Tut when he put his arm around them.

“You’ll have to give us a tour...well Tiye and I. I’m sure these two hooligans know where they’re going,” she said, winking at the two men she’d come with. She smiled at the small mob of children running by, looking up at her husband knowing they were probably both thinking that someday they’d get to have their own little mob just like that.

She stepped back to let them greet their friend when he came, thankful she had Tut there to remind her of everyone’s names. There were still times she found herself taking a minute to remember the names of all her nieces and nephews, nevermind all these other people too. “It’s nice to meet you in person, I’ll try to remember everyone’s name,” she replied, her eyes growing about as wide as saucers and she clutched Tiye and instinctively moved back towards Tut.

Nodding, she took some deep breaths to calm down, kissing the top of Tiye’s head. “He..hello,” she said tentatively, unsure exactly how you were supposed to talk to a giant bear whose voice was swirling about in your head. “I...of course you can,” she replied eventually, moving towards the older man. She tried to stamp down the voice in her head saying it was her fault she never got to live last time, not wanting to ruin the afternoon by being in a bad mood, “She does love being held, and the two of us generally can’t make ourselves put her down.”

"Welcome to my humble home my dear." Vladimir said with a smile as he met Tutankhamun, Annie and Meketre at the door of the main hall of the fort where he and his siblings were born and later stationed. "Tutankhamun tells me it happens to be your birthday?" He smiled and started tearing up a little as Tut brought over a tiny bundle in a baby carrier. "Oh my Gods... she's beautiful."

Avatar

“Your humble home is perfectly lovely,” she replied, grinning as she looked around the main hall, “That it is, the poor man once again saddled with an ancient crone.”

Annie turned and smiled too, carefully reaching into the carrier and lifting Tiye out, settling her in her arms. “She is isn’t she?” she agreed, letting the baby grab a finger, “I honestly still can’t believe she’s real some days.”

Tutankhamun and Ankhsenamun had been inseparable until Tutankhamun’s sudden death in 1327 BCE at the age of 18–19. They ruled together for around ten years and had two daughters. Unfortunately, both babies were born prematurely and died right after birth; they were buried in their father’s tomb.

“They must have grown up together and perhaps played together in the palace gardens. (…) To judge from their portrayal in the art that fills the golden king’s tomb, this was certainly the case [that they loved one another]. We can feel the love between them as we see the queen standing in front of her husband giving him flowers and accompanying him while he was hunting.” - Zahi Hawass
