“Keep thinking positively hapepy.” Tutankhamun had said as he wheeled himself out of the bathroom. “We’re not the genetic messes we were then. "Our daughter has been stronger and healthier from the start.”
He made sure to do the things that he needed to quickly so he could get back to Ankhe faster, “No it’s hard for me to fully believe too but I do know it’s going to happen.” He said as he pocked the instrument and braced his wife after she stood up. “I’ll get you back on the bed and go make you some.”
Saqer kept a firm hold as he guided Annie back into the bedroom and helped her lay back down before giving her his watch and a stress ball, “I need you to keep time between contractions and this is just in case one happens before I get back.” He smiled and kissed her slowly and with all his love before going in the kitchen and getting some tea started before getting the phone when it started ringing. He was expecting many that day and knew it was most likely Meketre not able to sleep either. This was the first anniversary of their injuries where they were living apart.
“Hey.” He said with a smile as he made up several thermoses of sweet tea for the both of them and made up a large batch of his protein shake to put in the fridge. “No you didn’t wake me your forthcoming niece did. No, no we’re fine and Ankhe wants just me for now. Yeah hang on…” He grinned and put the phone on the tray and carried it into the bedroom. “You have someone who wants to wish us well hapepy.” He set the tray down and handed his wife a cup of tea before putting the phone on speaker while he put his drinks in the small fridge on his wife’s side of the bed.
“I hear little our little miss is ready for the world.” Meketre said with a grin in his voice but there was sadness there as well given what the coming day was. “How are you doing so far honey?”
“I guess I have to make due with holding being over than you and your wife over your head now. No sister or cousin,” she joked, nodding her head “Don’t I know it. If she gets yours and my mother’s height instead of mine, she’d be an excellent dancer with all those kicks she’s been doing.”
Annie laughed as he helped her get up; much as she’d been trying to get up herself she was a petite woman and all that extra weight up front did throw her off balance sometimes. “I thought your mother told me I was supposed to move around a bunch not lie in bed, that’s what got me into this situation in the first place wasn’t it?”
She nodded when he helped her settle back into bed, quite looking forward to something nice and warm to drink, and the colossal amount of sweet that generally went in her tea wouldn’t go amiss either. Grinning she kissed him back, saluting with her free hand as he went down the hallway to the kitchen.
Resisting the urge to look at the clock, since she knew it was absolutely far too early for anyone to be awake, finding no need for the stress ball or paper since there wasn’t another contraction before Tut came back. “I’d ask who in the name of the Gods was calling you this early but I know exactly who it is,” she said, rolling her eyes fondly and reaching out for the cup, still quite amused she could balance things on her belly when she was lying down.
“She is indeed apparently, with particularly ridiculous timing,” she told Meketre’s voice as she took a gulp of her tea, “I’m all right for now really, we’ve got a long way to go yet. First one and all, I’m sure she’ll be a while.
