What happened to the First Kingdom comic? Did it get discontinued entirely?

Oh lord you remember that. Yes. Basically: I and a stack of others got laid off at my day job. I actually had a WFH comics offer in my inbox, and like three days to decide whether to go for it before I needed to re-up my apartment lease. My job at the time was the only time in my life where I’d been paid a living wage, so I knew if I stayed in my apartment, I’d need to find two jobs and fast. Either choice meant First Kingdom was done.

I do still think about doing it again though.

You can meet Meg Gandy at SPX 2015, but the best way to get to know her and her work is by supporting her work online. You can find her general artwork on tumblr, and follow her ongoing webcomic Godsend. But to give Gandy active support, find her on Patreon and get directly involved with her work! You can find more updates from Gandy on Twitter @megrag.

After you’ve had a chance to check out all of Meg Gandy’s work, come back here to see a brand new artist next week, and see what’s coming up for the VERTOSCOPE anthology!

we’re still doing gemsonas right?

apatite is a very common gemstone that comes in all kinds of colors, and used to be frequently mistaken for other more valuable gems. it’s one of the few minerals that can be produced biologically, and appears in your teeth and bones.

apatite has a hardness of 5 on the mohs scale (dead center, so not very strong) and is therefore not particularly keen to fight. if forced, she will absolutely fight dirty. for real. she bites like a motherfucker.
