Random question but maybe you have some insight into this. How does aliya, a brunette with brown eyes have a blonde haired blue eyed kid? Genetics are so weird.

Well, her husband is blonde and blue eyed if I'm not mistaken so genetically there was a 50% chance the child would have brown eyes and a 50% chance she'd have blue. Her husband had blue eyes and would be homozygous bb, and Aliya would be heterozygous Bb, so if you go back to 9th grade biology and do a punnet square, you can see that there's a 50% chance the kid ends up with bb (blue eyes) if Aliya passes on the recessive b allele and a 50% chance the kid has brown eyes (Bb) if she passed on the dominant B allele. In this case, it seems as though Alisa inherited a recessive b from her father and a recessive b from Aliya, so she has blue eyes.

So I log into Tumblr for the first time in a year to let y'all know I'm still alive and am immediately confronted with a bunch of notifications saying my posts have been flagged for adult content and...they're all pictures of my dog.

Anyway. Hi!

Olympic medalist gymnast Alexander Naddour has been suspended by USA Gymnastics following allegations of sexual misconduct, one of which dates back nearly six years, the Orange County Register has learned.
USA Gymnastics officials were first presented with allegations of sexual misconduct against Naddour in 2012, according to two sources familiar with the case. Additional allegations were made against Naddour around 2016.
Naddour was suspended by USA Gymnastics Wednesday “from all contact.” USA Gymnastics has referred the case to the U.S. Olympic Committee-funded U.S. Center for Safe Sport.
Naddour, 27, won the bronze medal on the pommel horse at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Four years earlier, he was an alternate on the U.S. team for the London Games. Naddour was also a member of Team USA’s bronze medal-winning squad at the 2011 World Championships.
“I have no idea what is happening or why, we are trying to contact safe sport for any information,” Naddour said on his twitter account Wednesday.
A USA Gymnastics official said they were unaware of the Naddour case when first questioned about it by the Register on Tuesday. The Register referred to the 2012 and 2016 allegations when contacting USA Gymnastics. Naddour was suspended a day later.
