It was so heartbreaking, @wild-mare-of-prosecution! Poor Chloe has been going through such a hard time and trying to become a better person but feels like she's been getting nowhere, especially in respect of her previous actions. Plus, she finds it so hard to trust people (probably because of her awful mum)! So, she probably thinks people will find it hard to forgive and trust her in return. And then Zoe is trying her best to support Chloe but Chloe finds that so hard to accept. Heartbreaking! 💔
Oh! I have been reading Scarlet Lady by @zoe-oneesama, where Chloe is 100% an unredeemable bad guy. And that's totally fine! But what I love about Vinegar & Honey is how it's the total opposite - and I agree. Most everyone can be redeemed if they choose to put the effort in to do so, especially kids like in the ML cartoon series. It doesn't erase their past actions but it still matters. It's so much fun to explore both options for Chloe, one where she isn't redeemed and one where she is.
My favourite part of Vinegar & Honey is 100% Zoe and Chloe's sisterly relationship, how they are slowly growing to trust, understand and love one another. Romance is so much fun in stories but I definitely enjoy (found) family even more! #aroacethings (The gorgeous artwork is also a strong favourite!)
In contrast, my least favourite part is the news page at the beginning of every episode, I like the concept, it's very creative, but it's a large block of tiny text with important context that I seriously struggle to read. It would improve the comic so much if this page could be made more accessible in some way - maybe have the text written again on the post below the page? I like the text messages on the mobile next to it, though, they're like a fun mystery to solve!
What I hope to see in the future... Hm. Whilst drama is important, happy moments are important too because they emphasis the drama by being so contrasting. I would love to see more (found) family, friendship and romantic moments in the future so that when the dramatic moments hit, they hit hard! Make us love her so we cry with her!
Also, I'm disabled like Chloe is in this story. I use a mobility scooter (considering switching to an electric wheelchair, though, because the front part of my mobility scooter makes it so I can't reach anything unless I'm side on to it) and elbow crutch to get around and I struggle immensely with chronic pain. (Did you know chronic pain can cause chronic fatigue?) And I too refused to use any mobility aids for a long long time, even though I needed them. So, it means a lot to me to see a titular character with these struggles. I would love to see more of that, for her disabled struggles not to be forgotten due to the storyline. So, I would appreciate it if that was kept in mind. Don't just make her magically get physically better but have her learn to accept and love herself as she is without erasing her difficulties.
I love Miraculous Tales: Vinegar & Honey by @mattw83 so much. And look forward to reading even more! 💕💕💕
