Based on a prompt by Pia Supino-Makya; basically an amalgamation of some self portrait ideas over a few weeks time. Lots of inspiration drawn from Dave Bixby for this one. This is for a free-to-download zine project I’m organizing called 3SUM where some of my talented classmates and friends submit work and it’s reshuffled to create 23 unique pieces that integrate the creative efforts of 3 different artists. :) Keep an eye out for it in early September, lots of process work gonna be hitting the zine’s tumblr in the meantime!

I arrived high and 43 minutes late for my film lecture last Monday. I was relieved, upon entering the hall, that the lights were already dimmed. This meant I had missed my professor’s stuttering mess of an introduction and I gauged by his approximate run-time of 26 minutes, plus a fifteen...

3SUM is a collaborative art zine by 23 Illustration students at Sheridan College. For each final piece, one of the 23 artist contributes personal text, another contributes lineart inspired by the text, and the last finishes the piece in their own style. Check for the final, free-to-download zine in early September, and stay tuned for some snippets from the contributing artists in the meantime. From top to bottom: Olivia O. About The Zine

3SUM ZINE is a collaborative project by Sheridan Illustration students spanning 3 years. There are 3 stages to the project, and between each stage submissions are shuffled; this means that on each piece, there are 3 different artists contributing to the final product. Each artist ends up collaborating with 6 others by the end of the project; everyone has some involvement in 3 seperate pieces. STAGE 1 asks artists to supply some text; a meaningful quote, funny twitter posts, poetry, short stories, a few words, anything that represents them. STAGE 2 lets another artist then interpret someone else’s text from Stage 1, creating black and white lineart. STAGE 3 is the realization of the piece; basically it is colored or otherwise finished by another of the artists in the project. The zine should be dropping early September!
