Not me making myself sad thinking about Ruin qq

Im just! He never got a chance! He spent 50 years in his own dimension just trying to survive, not draw attention to himself while he worked on his plans to not just get rid of his Creator, but all Creators that were going to be problems.

And then he gets to 'our' dimension, and while this can't be the ONLY time he's ever had the chance to have allies, it's certainly his Best chance. Especially when they don't kill him! They 'cure' him instead! Surely there's hope!

And then it doesn't

Go

Anywhere

He lived as an ally for 3 months before anyone bothered getting him repaired. He was an afterthought, an awkward annoyance.

And everyone puts such great emphasis on how they didn't trust Ruin-- but I don't think he ever was given a reason to trust THEM. And whatever tolerance or hope he had for finding allies, maybe even friends, went out the window when Moon demanded to pick through his head.

How fucked up is it, knowing you have to corrupt most of your own mind to hide your tracks, because this person for sure will never be an ally? That any hope of being able to get their help in your plan, an effective yet terrible plan, has been completely dashed?

That you're as alone now as you have been for your entire life?

There had to have been alternatives. Maybe if the home crew had been more accepting, if Ruin had gotten access to different perspectives and resources and ideas, maybe an alternative could have been found.

But those things were never an option for him. And of course he stuck with the plan even if it meant Solar would die too-- sacrificing all dimensions for the sake of one person who was only kind of nice to you is a stupid thing to do if you've gotten this far.

(Man it must have hurt to hear Solar's last comment about him be "I guess we should have killed him". Like Ruin was an afterthought of some kind, not even worth addressing directly. Solar might as well have said "I guess I shouldn't have ordered the sushi".)

And yeah i know I'm just a major sucker for accepting punishment gracefully, of the fact that he knows his actions are unforgivable and hasn't tried to argue for any reasons why he shouldn't die-- the most he's said is a small plea that his death is painless, but even then he's resigned himself to suffering. He just wants to help. He's Moon's savior complex and Sun's unshakeable focus smashed together into one.

I know in the show either he's going to sacrifice himself to help, or someone like a Creator will kill him. I don't see him acting as a direct enough threat to justify letting the good guys kill him (congrats Eclipse you graduated to good guy for this).

But man.... I just really want to see someone have been nice to him. For Moon to forgive him somehow, maybe after Solar is back? I wish he could be pulled out of the pit he's in, because there's no light at all for him right now 8(

But I guess that comes with being an Eclipse. There's no hope for you, you're just.... screwed on whatever path you end up on.

Shoutout to the radish guy in Spirited Away for deciding to go all the way up to the top floor just to make sure Chihiro was safe when presumably he had other shit to do and could just have easily decided this little girl's safety was Not His Problem.

I didnā€™t realize that was what he was doing !!!

Yeah, he's a customer of the bathhouse, not even a worker, and as such has no need to go to the top floor where Yubaba is. But he stays on the elevator with Chihiro all the way to the top, and even looks around when the door opens as if to make sure the coast is clear.

The fact that he's a radish spirit also means he probably has a strong smell, which would mask Chihiro's own human smell that the other spirits keep picking up. So the Radish guy basically kept her safe until she got a job from Yubaba.

And he doesn't even work there.

This was his time to relax.

And he took time out of his day to make sure a little kid was safe anyway.

This guy for anyone wondering

Kind of a dilf

@castellanhoe Iā€™m screaming cos why did I immediately think the same

Heck, they stopped on another floor first, went "Nope" and closed the doors again to take Chihiro to the top floor.

And even before that. He definitely saw her with Lin. He looked right at her. And yet he followed both of them to the elevator to begin with - he already knew this girl might need some help.

YESSS MY FAVORITE MINOR CHARACTER LET'S HEAR IT FOR OSHIRA-SAMA

"Come on Sunshine! Take one Sundrop Candy and you'll feel all better! Trust me, you can go for a few more hours of playtime after having one!"

"I don't think so, Sunny. Besides, look at how sleepy they are. Clearly they need help taking a nap. Come now Starlight, don't you want to cuddle and take a nice long nap~? Take a Moondrop Candy and you'll drift off to dreamland with me~šŸŽ¶"

"No, no, no! They want to play with me! Don't you want to play with me some more?"

"Sunny... They're clearly tired... Let me have my turn with them..."

"No! They aren't that tired! Besides, it's not your turn yet!"

"Actually my turn was supposed to happen a few hours ago... But you've been keeping the lights on... It's supposed to be lights out right now..."

"Well-... How about we let them decide? What do you say, Dewdrop? Do you want to play with me some more? Or-"

"Or do you want to take a break to nap and cuddle with me?"

It has come to my attention that "lusus" is actually Latin and the first half of "lusus naturae", roughly translating into "sport of nature" or "playing nature". A lusus is Literally A Simulcarum Of A Real Natural Animal and implied to not actually be a real animal that evolved from the land, meaning: Where Did They Come From And What Did Alternia Do To The Real Animals

Thereā€™s a fic on fanfiction(.)net that Iā€™ve kept tabs on for years to see if itā€™s been updated or not. While Iā€™m no longer even in the fandom itā€™s written for, it just has one of the greatest storylines Iā€™ve ever read. Last time it was updated was 2011.

The other day, I decided to reread the entire thing and leave a very in-depth review of what I thought of each chapter. I also mentioned how I started reading it when I was 13 and am now 21, but always came back to see if it was ever finished because I loved it so dearly.

Today, said author sent me a private message saying that her analytics showed that the story was still getting views even after all these years, but no one ever bothered to leave reviews other than ā€œupdate soon!!!ā€, so she never felt motivated enough to finish it. She said that me reviewing every single chapter with lengthy paragraphs made her cry and meant the world to her. She also mentioned that she felt encouraged to write the two remaining chapters needed to complete the story and that she would send me a message the night before she updates the fic.

Iā€™m literally sobbing. Iā€™m so excited :ā€™)

Please always remember to leave a review when reading fanfiction!!! It means a lot to a writer.

this is so fucking lovely

And not just fanfiction. Original stories too. The thing that writers want from readers is questions to be asked and a conversation to take place about the story.

Feedback that leads to genuine conversation is beautiful.

What if I told you that the one thing that makes a Tiger bounce away in fear wasnā€™t humans? Would you believe me if I showed you it was this guy?

You are looking at a Sloth Bear and do NOT let that eepy face fool you. Thatā€™s a domesticated Sloth Bear, as far as animal preservation goes. The ones that live in the wild are the most terrifying monsters in India.

Thatā€™s not a photo op. Thatā€™s real life Baloo off his meds and he has claws that can tear through termite mounds that can be as tough as concrete.

Normally Sloth Bears are solitary and introverted, but when a Tiger is present, they start to go into a murderous self defense attempt to protect their young.

Shere Khan isnā€™t the king of these streets. He ainā€™t gonna stick around for the Bare Necessities of Murder.

As someone who buys a shit tonne of vintage and retro items all the time I need to tell you about the "shart zone" and "prime nuclear cockroach material"

when buying used items i will do anything in my power to avoid the shart zone, which is in the range of 5-10 years old, this is a short enough amount of time for especially electronic items to have not found a way to fall apart horribly but have become out dated enough to have no support and likely will not retain any value. I do however LOVE the nuclear cockroach material zone which is anything 20+ years old. If it still works after 20 years it is going to work forever. A great example of this is my pc which exists in the shart zone and has to be revved up to turn on lawnmower style, but my N64 works fine.

The same goes for clothes, I wear the same 40+ year old knitted jumper EVERY DAY and it only has two small holes in it. It's less that they don't make them how they used to and more survivor bias. You don't see all of the retro items that fell apart within a year because they got thrown away. You only see the nuclear cockroach material that will still be here at the heat death of the universe.

infuriating that it's been 15+ years and so many people still get Roy killing Lust wrong

"it's ironic that Lust was killed by a womanizer" "Lust was killed by a man who lusted after power" NO! Lust was killed by a man who did it because of love.

It's ironic that she was killed by a man who uses his (false!) public reputation as a womanizer to conceal the fact that he is one of the most steadfastly loyal people in Amestris. It's ironic she was killed by someone whose entire motivation revolved around gaining the power to help others. It's ironic that he killed her for threatening his people.

Lust was killed because Roy refused to let Havoc die, because he refused to let Riza throw away her life. He killed her because he refused to die without making sure the people he loved were safe. Lust was killed because of love. That was the point.

can't believe there are still people out here in the year 2023 that genuinely think aang should have killed ozai

"even avatar yangchen saidā€”" that's not the POINT, the point is that aang is the LAST airbender the LAST air nomad the LAST person following these teachings, the point is that if he breaks his vows the air nomads will truly die out with him, forever. the point is that the monks taught him all life is sacred and even if ozai is a piece of shit who everyone agrees deserves to die, aang refuses let ozai force him to give up the last thing he has of his people, their lessons, refuses to let ozai wipe the last air nomad from the earth and finish what his horrible family started. the point is that aang beats ozai because his spirit is unbendable, the point is that he takes the man whose ancestors set his on fire and robs him of the ability to hurt anyone ever again, the point is that the Fire Lord ends the fight kneeling before the Last Air Nomad and THAT is the ending aang deserved

I could make a whole post about the double meaning of what yangchen said and how aang actually took her advice.

but aang antis are averse to critical thinking so.

Honestly I think people who honestly think he should have killed Ozai aren't aware they're kind of revealing their bad media comprehension skills because the entire series largely focuses around this same kind of moral conflict for him; should have circumvent the harmonious cycle to achieve his goals, or do it the RIGHT way even if its less likely to succeed or if people are pressuring him to compromise himself? Will victory be worth it if he sacrifices all he is, carrying the weight of the world AND the meaning of being the last airbender?

the entire show is not subtle about which side its own; it is consistently and pretty bluntly stated all the time that 'no, ignoring the spiritual path for expediency is a terrible idea, don't do that'. We see it when its outright shown that trying to weaponize the Avatar State is a bad idea, or that Aang choosing to spare Zuko's life repeatedly winds up being the reason they are able to defeat Ozai in the end with his information and the secrets of Firebending they ultimately learn together.

The show spends a lot of time emphasizing things like not killing for the sake of a quick solution, or that that industrializing at cost to the environment is bad, and the Ozai question is the culmination of the entire series.

If someone watched the show and decided that Ozai should have been killed, that's revealing that they either weren't paying attention or failed to grasp the series and its core themes.

Aang sparing Ozai's life ties into the showā€™s larger themes of anti-colonization. We see through the show (especially in the Fire Nation episodes) how the Fire Nation justifies their colonization by propaganda that they are the strongest nation and fire is the superior element. They also utilize this propaganda to justify the Air Nomad genocide, lying that they had a military and were beaten because they were not strong enough.

If Aang used violence to end the Firelordā€™s life, it would prove the Fire Nationā€™s colonizing beliefs as accurate. Aang would have ended the war because he was stronger than the Firelord, meaning that the Fire Nation's philosophy of the strong beating the weak was right. The Fire Nationā€™s defeat would not be seen as their actions being wrong, but as them being overtaken by a stronger force. By Aang showing the Firelord mercy while still defeating him, he dismantles the Fire Nationā€™s philosophy of ā€˜might is right.ā€™ He doesn't prevail because he is physically stronger, he prevails because the Fire Nation's philosophy of colonization is wrong. By taking away Ozai's bending he is symbolically taking away the power of Ozai's oppressive beliefs while upholding his own culture's values of peace and mercy that the Fire Nation tried to destroy.

Dungeon Meshi Rooms - Laios & Falin, Marcille, Chilchuck and Senshi

Found a few chapter covers that give a closer look into their rooms, erased the chapter names just to be sure

At least I think Senshi is in his room, if he isn't you get to see sexy Senshi for free.

Couldn't find any covers in Marcille's magic school room but added a couple under the cut that have spoilers.
