recently learned that the "UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT OF LOVE" sample from jet set radio future is legendary Black activist Kwame Ture denouncing the apartheid state of israel
hideki naganuma would later sample malcolm x in Wrapped in Black, the boss fight theme for sonic rush. in bomb rush cyberfunk he once again samples the same speech from concept of love, this time for his newest track DA PEOPLE.
This comic takes place a couple years after luffy has become pirate king btw, the crew are probably adventuring somewhere in the South Blues rn
I'm so fucking tired of having to Choose to opt out of it. Like this should tell you 1000% that websites do not care about their userbase because of the blatant lack of respect for the people and the things they create. This goes for writing, art, music, videos, etc. Like yall, I do not put my work up here for it to be scraped, and profited off of unless I choose. I put my work up for it to be shared with others who enjoy the characters I do and connect with others. I make my work sometimes just for fun. But there are times when I make extremely personal pieces that are rooted deeply for me. Things I don't wont a machine just chewing it up and spitting it out without regard for the initial intent of why I created it - because a machine will never NEVER understand the nuance of what I was trying to show, why I chose things the way I did. I'm so tired of seeing the work of EVERY creative individual thrown into a blender and chopped up and Frankensteined in a way that tosses aside integrity from the INDIVIDUALS who made them. Tossing our work into a generative AI machine is not paying homage to our work. It is not a tribute. It is a damn mockery. If you really want to pay homage or tribute, or have any kind of respect for the work we put into what we do, you'd learn to make a replication by hand. You'd learn what we went through to get to where we were. You'd learn why we do things the way we do and how we think about how we convey what we do. You'd learn to discern intention for how we create what we do. I get quick money is damn tempting as hell, but you will never truly understand the joy and the fulfillment you get by doing the work by hand simply by writing a prompt. Because how can you truly understand what's missing from your work unless you've done it yourself to understand why it's lacking the humanity?
my therapist was a bit shook by how much i detest my period, and i was shocked to find out out not everyone does....
u ever see someone with extremely fucked up views (or actions) and think wowww if a couple of things in my life went the tiniest bit differently that would have been me
I think most people would benefit from reflecting on how this might be true for them
Sometimes people bitch about media, both fiction and nonfiction, that they think "humanizes" bad people, especially bigots fascists Nazis et cetera. And I'm just like. Hey. Hey. The problem is. They ARE human. HUMANS did that. Your next door neighbor could do that. Your grandma could do that. You could do that.
"No I'm a good person" why? Because you've gotten lucky and not seen propaganda yet that perfectly hit your buttons? Because you had people to correct you when you fucked up? Idk man I don't think we're all so different from the bad people. We're all just people.
Reminding ourselves of our shared humanity with terrible people does NOT serve to justify their actions. It serves to remind us that the seeds of what happened to them could get into us as well, or might already have. It reminds us to be vigilant and interrogate the hatred inside us.
If you convince yourself that you're just an Inherently Good Person who would never believe hateful things well. Now any little hateful thing that makes its way inside you undetected is never going to be interrogated. It will be left to grow undisturbed.
If you remember that those things can get into anyone, you know to look out for them, and weed them out when they appear, and take the criticism when others point them out in you. So remember, that could have been you. If you forget, maybe it will be.
Happiness Will Come To You.

of all the good reasons to have an ace headcanon for him, why would you land on this
People who claim Luffy is too “emotionally immature” or “dumb” do not understand Luffy’s character and it shows their lack of character/literary comprehension. This man has had many moments in the series where, if you actually look, you do see he understands what’s important. Take for example the fight with Arlong. He only needed to look at the pen with blood on it to realize that Nami was not actively there by her own choice, she was forced into servitude by Arlong, had been abused, and understood that to free her from that meant destroying the room that shackled her there. So when people say he’s emotionally immature I really can’t help but honestly ask if someone is reading/watching a cracked version of One Piece.
He may do dumb things but when it matters, he is there and knows when something is important to someone. Hell, in Alabasta, he understood that in order to solve Vivi’s situation they had to take out Crocodile and not just stop the Revolutionaries from storming in because that wasn’t going to stop people from dying. In Enies Lobby, he wanted Robin to say she wanted to Live because one, it needed to be her choice, but also that he would fight for her because she is important to him and wanted her to be there alongside him. I can go on and on. Luffy making the decision to go after Doflamingo in Dressrosa and not just the smile factory because the situation was bigger than just that. Luffy covering Katakuri’s face after their battle. Luffy scoffing at Judge for what he said about Sanji. Wano as a whole. Etc, etc, etc…
Like y’all need to stop choosing to underestimate and dumb him down.
Anyways, that said, as someone who is Ace, here are some Alternative Reasons for him to be Ace that are better aligned with his character:
-he’s goal driven and places more importance on finding the one piece
-sex is not a primary driving force for him and it’s not something he fixates on
-he could be sex positive/neutral with a partner and choose to do it if that was a need of theirs, but he’s absolutely more than content and satisfied sharing space with them and enjoying that time together
-sex to him is like doing a mundane chore when he could be out there on another adventure or exploring an island
-does not personally see what the big deal about sex is, but understands that for others it might be an important need for them
-might be Demisexual and really only develops sexual attraction to someone with a very strong connection to them, but it still may not be a need of his and prefers not having sex or may only very rarely want to do so
Yeah, I'm 10000% normal about his smile
Some days are just hard
