2017 World Series Game 2. What a game. In the top 2-3 games of all sports I've ever watched live. Can't be a 2017 sporting event with high stakes for me without experiencing a roller coaster of emotions. Unfortunately, the team I was rooting for lost this time. She never stopped cheering and annoying Texas fans lol. #USCvsTexas STORY ⬇️ USC losing to Texas in the 2006 title game will probably be my worst memory as a sports fan ever. Fast forward 11 years later to the "rematch". Prior to Texas's last drive in regulation, they'd almost done nothing on offense. Of course they came alive in crunch time. When Texas was marching down late in the 4th, USC up 14-10, I had a lot going through my head, including flashes of a similar situation in the 06 game and the backlash that the Trojan family would get if the #4 team in the nation lost to unranked Texas. When UT WR Collin Johnson hauled in a long ball from QB Sam Ehlinger over SC CB Jack Jones I had a sick feeling in my stomach. Soon after, Texas scored, putting them up 17-14. The 35,000 Texas fans in the Coliseum give or take, were the loudest opposing fans I've ever heard cheer at the Coliseum. It felt like a Texas home game at that moment. I was distraught. The thought of these Texas fans getting the last laugh after taunting us all game frustrated me. But @duartee never folded. She told me, "There's 45 seconds left!". I was like "Yeah!". Truth be told, in my head I was was like, "f#^*^^%!!! Sigh, we takin the L." 😂. But QB Sam Darnold orchestrated a drive with 39 seconds left after the kickoff (including a sweet jump pass), to let USC's FRESHMAN WALK ON kicker, Chase McGrath make his first career FG (after missing his first attempt ever earlier) to tie the game and end regulation, and then eventually kick the game winning FG in Double OT. USC prevails, 27-24. Can't make this up! Although the game itself didn't have as much at stake as that 06 game, it still meant a lot to me. And even though I wanted SC to blowout the Longhorns and look impressive, this was more satisfying! Thanks to the Texas organization for making this game feel like a bowl game. Nothing like college football. Add this to the list of crazy games #duckiexduarteadventures has been through. Thanks @duartee 😘. What a game. What a story. Never give up.
