Taking Bone Carving Commissions!
School has started back up for me and I have a whopping one class this semester. That means I have tons of free time and, on account of I’m super poor with car payments and an expensive vet bill to pay my parents back for, I need income. A job would be great but it’s really quite hard to find a job around here since I am not only contending with other students but a large population of people who have to work retail or service jobs in order to support their families. I also can’t afford to spend a lot of time out of the house and leave Natasha home because my family is unfortunately not very good at looking after her and making sure she stays out of trouble.
All things considered, I think currently it is in my best interest to officially open commissions on bone carvings. I’ve done some in the past but I haven’t quite gotten to the point where I have a reasonable flow of projects to work on, so hopefully making a formal announcement will help.
- At the moment, I will be working solely with beef bones acquired either from grocery or pet stores. The bones I find naturally are too small and brittle for me to work with. If you don’t want something made of beef bone for whatever reason (ethical or otherwise) I may consider using a particular bone provided by you, but I will judge these on a case by case basis.
- I do not have access to very thick bones and thus anything that is not relatively flat will not be easy for me to make without making it tiny. That means no figurines or the like. Although I will work my hardest to cut from the optimal section of bone for each piece, there may also be natural curves that I can’t avoid due to the size or shape of your piece.
- Bone carving is a lengthy process and each piece will take me at the very least 2 hours to make from start to finish. More intricate or large pieces can take up to 10 hours or more. This means that pricing will be very specific to the process required for each individual piece and will likely be on an hourly basis. I will also estimate shipping costs and add that into your total.
- I take Paypal. Other methods of payment may be considered on a case by case basis.
