As an original, he could easily COMPEL her to turn it back on. But as Elijah Mikaelson, even Hayley couldn’t make himself to do so. ]

Queen.

Happiness was both suggestive and not a priority. It was something Hayley had learned very young,  something she understood and came to accept.  What she wanted, what she desired, came second. That was the way things were in her life. Duty first, happiness later. And Hayley was nothing if not good at putting on a show. Such as now, for instance, offering a man a slight smile. Pretend happiness, until certain issues were resolved.
