Thomas Neil Rodriguez may be the best dog owner ever. When vets told him his elderly dog Poh, a pitbull-lab mix he adopted in 1999, had just days to live, the New York-born Rodriguez and his fiancée decided to take the mutt on an epic cross-country tour. It ended up being wonderful medicine.

I’m not crying; I’m just allergic to feelings.

😭 omg

😩what a wonderful person

Keystrokes and Footsteps: My 13.1 Mile Journey

So for the longest time I’ve struggled with accomplishing things. I felt like I could never stick with something long enough to make it happen. That’s why I signed up for this half-marathon in the first place, I hoped that spending $80 to run 13 miles at 7:00 in the morning would motivate me to workout and continue working out. (So far so good in that department, go me!) But there were other area’s of my life where I just felt like I should be doing things but never could. Example- I don’t drink nearly enough water. I know that I should and I know that while working out consistently it’s downright stupid not to be drinking tons of water. I follow Julianne Hough’s blog and she started a water challenge. She found out what works for her, drinking two glasses of water in the morning and the one before each meal. So I thought, hey I’m going to try this out! I failed. Miserably. I wasn’t motivated and got so frustrated at myself for yet again not following through.

That’s when something clicked in my head, I’m not sure what it was or why it finally clicked but I realized that I needed to find what worked for me.

I know what you’re thinking. Well duh. But think about it, how many times have you decided to do something just because someone else is doing it. When is the last time you sat down and figured out what really worked for you? Now, if following celebs or challenges works for you then that is awesome. It didn’t work for me and I realized that the only way I was going to drink more water, or really accomplish anything in life, was to sit down and learn what makes me tic. So to finish up my water drinking example, I realized I like drinking from a straw. I drink more and I drink quicker. I also realized that I was going to need a water bottle that had measurements on the side so I could track exactly how much I was drinking. After doing some research and figuring out how much water I needed to drink a day, I am proud to say that I purchased a water bottle online and have started drinking the appropriate amount of water! So the moral of this blog is take the time to find what works for you and then do that. It doesn’t matter if a crazy 30 day diet worked for Beyonce, you are not Beyonce.

Find what works for you and stick with it.

Keystrokes and Footsteps: My 13.1 Mile Journey

This past week, training took a fun turn! I kayaked two nights, rode bikes and walked my parents 85 pound German Short-haired Pointer.  I’ve started meal planning, we’ll see how well that goes, and I’m grabbing a ton of new fruits to juice. I’m working on my distance not just time this week. I’ll keep you all posted on how that goes. :)

Keystrokes and Footsteps: My 13.1 Mile Journey

Ah, I’m officially back in the swing of things. I went for a really good run yesterday and I’m starting to see improvement already! It’s funny, finally buckling down and actually training has made me super motivated to do other things, such as, finally get pillows for our couch and bed; being adventurous in my cooking once again, hanging things up on our walls and reading more. I used to read all the time and finally started reading again. I’m enjoying this new found motivation in life, I sure hope I can keep it around.  Monday: Run

2.14 miles (This was cut short because of a weird pain I got in my chest, found out it’s just heartburn and that I need to drink more water before I run.)

Tuesday:

30 mins of Yoga
