365 Days
Today marks 365 days we’ve been together. The first moment started with a New Year’s kiss and later today at midnight it would still be the same. Except this time we actually know each other and hopefully we won’t be drunk. This is the first of 364 notes I’ve hidden around the house, so have fun finding them.
You stared at the note in confusion. Mouth parting open in awe at the fact that Calum had hid 364 more notes around your home. You couldn’t help but to smile quickly climbing out of bed to look for the rest of the notes. The first time you ever met Calum was during a new year’s eve party at the strike of midnight. Being kissed by a drunk stranger while being drunk also didn’t seem weird at first. For some reason the two of you never left each other’s side that morning. Your first ever date being the twenty-four hour IHop; whipped cream pancakes and all. You found another note taped to the bathroom mirror.
I never admitted this until now but the real moment I realized I loved you was when you were pissed out drunk and puking over the bathroom floor. I don’t know why that exact moment made me fall in love with you but it did.
Calum never failed to surprise you. The note making you laugh in embarrassment. Leave it to Calum to fall in love when you were at your worst. It was the reason you loved him. He accepted all your flaws and made you feel at home. You began to run the water for your shower and then started to brush your teeth. You were excited for what was going to happen at midnight. It was marking your first year anniversary as a couple with Calum. This time around you didn’t want to go out and party. A small get together sounded more appealing than anything. Now that you thought of it, you had no idea where Calum was. The first thing you woke up to was his note and that was it. You knew he had to be somewhere because the band was currently on vacation and you were hosting the party.
Remember that time you bought nipple tassels and when you were finished using them they didn’t come off? Yeah that was a funny day.
Your mouth gaped in astonishment as you were brought back to that dreadful day. The thought of using nipple tassels sounded like a great idea at first, but you were so wrong. It took about an hour for Calum to pry them off your breasts and when he did, the stickers left a dark mark around your nipples. From the few notes you found it seemed like Calum was telling every memory he’s had about the two of you in this whole year. The thought sent a warm feeling down your spine, but it also made you weary because most of those days weren’t at all good.
We once broke up and that was honestly the worst day of my life. I really messed up that day and I know I’ve apologized so many times, but I have to say I’m sorry one more time.
“Okay! I got the snacks and Luke said he was going to bring the drinks,” Calum said, barging through the door with grocery bags in his hand. You looked up from the note you were reading and gave him a smile. “Oh I see you found some notes,” he grinned, peeking over your shoulder. From what it looked like you had found thirty of them.
“How long did it take you to write these?” you questioned, turning your head up and to the side and letting him peck your lips.
“Super long, but it was worth it,” Calum replied, “You should check the shoes.” Your head shot up at his words and you scrambled off the couch in a hurry.
“WHICH SHOES WE HAVE A TON!?!” you shouted, hearing his laughter from the kitchen. Your running around made the dog bark loudly and hop off the couch to run after you. You dug into your closet in search for more notes. So far all of them had been really sweet and some even made you cry a bit. You had found at least twenty of the notes in your bedroom. Six of them in the bathroom, and a few scattering the hallway. Now that you thought of it Calum did say he hid the notes around the house and you had yet to check the kitchen, living room, and other places. Calum watched in amusement as you began to search the kitchen, moving out of your way as you looked through the cabinets. You found one of them taped to your favorite chips.
On our first vacation as a couple I ended up getting the stomach flu halfway through and the fact that you took care of me throughout the whole thing made me realize we are going to be with each other forever
Forever. It wasn’t a word the two of you used a lot. You both knew that some relationships ended and that it was possible that you two could breakup. Though after you broke up once it nearly tore the both of you apart. Now Calum was using the word forever and it made you happy. You wanted a forever with Calum too. You looked over your shoulder at him with a smile. Watching as he began to prepare the food for tonight. He looked as if he was enjoying himself, humming to a song that was playing on the Spotify and playing with the dog. Calum looked up when he felt you staring, giving you a small smile before going back to what he was doing.
It was nearing midnight when you were looking for the final note. The rest of them scattering your bedroom floor. You sighed in defeat when you couldn’t find anything. Making your way back into your room and away from your guests. Maybe you had missed one in there. “Hey, what are you doing? We have two minutes before it reaches a new year,” Calum said, coming into the room and closing the door behind him.
“I’ve looked everywhere and I can’t find the last note,” you admitted, chewing on your bottom lip in frustration. Calum furrowed his eyebrows, lips pursing as he thought.
“Are you sure you checked everything in the house?” he asked, earning an eager nod from you.
“Yes I’ve checked everywhere and I can-” you stopped mid-sentence when you saw the purple colored piece of paper in between Calum’s fingers. There was a smug look on his face and you let out a chuckle. You quickly grabbed the note from his hands, eyes adverting to the clock. Just one more minute. This time you read the note out loud. “We met earlier this year and I’ve loved you since April. Here’s to another year together and many more to come. You get your New Years kiss in three, two-”
“One,” Calum finished off, lips pressing against yours. You could hear cheers coming from downstairs and shouts of Happy New Year. You kissed Calum back with passion, a smile on your lips at what you had just read. You couldn’t wait to spend another amazing year with Calum.
