I remember when aislinn said people were shocked to find out she rode the subway places and that it wasnt limos everywhere and degrassi is basically the equivalent of a part time job so its not surprising they dont have the glamorous famous life that actors have most of them have another job outside of the show they deserve privacy too all actors do

Yeah it’s 100% not glamorous at all. There’s a reason if you’re in Toronto then there’s a high probability that you’ll run into someone who has been on the show at some point.

Once a group of friends and I went to dinner and Scott (Johnny DiMarco) was there eating - I also went to school with him and would see him quite a bit as our programs were in the same building. Taysha Fuller (”Jess”) was also seen at my school once but it was only one time, so I’m not sure what she was doing there. I’ve ran into Aislinn on the street before, passed Luke on a crosswalk before, saw Nathan, the guy who played Griffin (who was also on Radio Free Roscoe) as a server at a restaurant. I saw the guy who played Blue rollerskating down a sidewalk before and he also worked in the mall at a store. I passed Melinda at the same mall once as well as saw her in a subway station. I was leaving a restaurant with my friend at the guy who played Bruce the Moose was outside of the restaurant next door, we were driving downtown and Melissa (Ashley) was waiting at the crosswalk to cross.

It really isn’t out of the ordinary, especially when a lot of them have “regular” jobs outside of acting while they’re in between gigs. Money doesn’t make itself. :)

I’m so tired of actors and actresses on Degrassi being held to such a high standard by the same people who put them on these pedestals to begin with. These people are nothing more than your normal, everyday, average young adult — the only difference is that they have a not-so-normal job.
Degrassi is not as big as you may think it is, just because you’ve been watching it on television and now Netflix for however many years. The actors on this show are not A-list celebrities, or even B or C-list. They’re just normal kids who happened to score a gig on a show that’s been airing for 30+ years. There is a reason Degrassi hires (usually) local kids in the Toronto area. They aren’t flashy. They’re not famous. They’re just kids who wanna act. They still go to public school, they still go to the local universities. Unless their family already had money before they were cast on the show, they just do average things, just like you and I do!!! It’s crazy, right?
They are not the same level as these actors on shows that air on channels like Disney, or Nickelodeon, or Freeform. They need to quit being treated as such. They search themselves on various social media platforms — they read and know all the horrible things you post about them online, thinking they’re not going to because they’re a “celebrity”. Doing this doesn’t mean they have “too much time on their hands.” Wouldn’t the same be said for all of these “fans” spending their days trashing these people? What is the point of continuously trashing someone and then getting mad when they read it and have a reaction to it? How are you going to play the victim as if they’re the bad person here? What did you expect to happen?
It’s just so childish and petty to focus your time on aggressively hating teenagers and young adults when they make one mistake. Most of the time it’s excusable and can be overlooked. Other times not. But there is no reason to come at these cast members with pitchforks as if they’ve murdered someone in cold blood when they just tweet one stupid thing, or like something stupid, or comment something stupid. They’re humans! They make mistakes. Just like everyone else in the world.
I don’t disagree with you, Jesi. I know I talk a lot of shit about the characters some of them portray and I go IN, in fact, I just did twice today. But I don’t have anything against any of the actors/actresses. I have nothing but respect for each and every one of them, as young artists and as human beings, period. Even if they were “A-List”, I don’t think it’s okay to attack them. Aside from that Andre incident(which I’m long over), I’ve never disrespected any cast member. Now, I felt inclined to reply to this because I want to make sure that the point you bring up about them searching and reading shit that could hurt their feelings is only about whatever disrespectful stuff folks might be saying about THEM(as real people) and not the characters they play, even if some of us(like me) can be really mean to said characters.

Definitely what is said about themselves as people, not about their characters. :)
