Those mood tags masterpost (this is for my own reference, feel free to ignore; or don’t, if you wanna go through the tags, you’re more than welcome)

m:dontbreathe - horror element, should literally make you hold your breath

m:feelsomething - should make you cry with existential feelings of being human. Do you want to be seen? Do you want to be vibe checked by the feelings inherent to living and loving and losing??? Do you want your fucking heart ripped out???

m:compelling - it’s cool. Maybe something that might break the writer’s block but probably won’t be as cool the next time I look at it

m:thegodfather - if I’m gonna write a gangster story, it’s gonna be based off this aesthetic

m:happybright - makes me smile, in, ya know, an inspirational way or something

That’s all I can remember will update as I find the other ones oops haha

EDIT: got some more

m:glitchinthematrix - those theoretically true stories that make me question if this is real or not

m:takeflight - og feelsomething; more punk, less vibe check

m:writersblock - when compelling inevitablely doesn’t work

m:bittersweet - parting is such sweet sorrow I guess

EDIT: made a new one

m:adastraperaspira - fictional space stuff that makes me feel things

EDIT EDIT: made another one

m:radioactivedivine - trueform angels. Radiation. Yeah.

EDIT EDIT: made another one

m:youinthesea - when im feeling some kinda way. Title from this fic.

What's the trope name for when someone finds out they're the Chosen One(tm) and is like "No, thank you" and goes and does something else

Refusal Of The Call is the actual trope name.  Usually followed by the tropes of The Call Knows Where You Live and You Can’t Fight Fate.

The Call is Trying to Contact you about your Destiny's Extended Warranty.

I Blocked The Call's Number, and The Call Got A New Phone And Called Again

Please Help The Call is Stalking Me

I Told The Call To Take Me Off The Call List And Got Laughed At

You know when Terry Pratchett said 'It doesn't stop being magic just because you know how it works'? Yeah, he meant this.

From having had the delusion that I could maybe afford one of her pieces, I recall they sell for anywhere from $300-800 USD. She is a genius at what she does, truly.

Jeff looks back at you suspiciously. Unbeknownst to you Jeff has the theory that you are an anteater. The spy vs spy-esque antics go on for 7 acts

Your boss eyes the two of you, he seems nervous while he slightly shakes in fear. The two of you have been doing nothing but suspecting each other the entire time. Yet you haven’t even suspected the fact that,

Your boss is the anteater.

I jist burst out laughing so hard holy shit 🤣

Love that the boss’ mug says “not an anteater”

I've met him in person btw and he's a fucking sweetheart

[ID: Text-intensive Twitter thread from the Shapeshifters chest binders Twitter account in reply to a post by artist and author Ursula Vernon. Vernon says, A non-zero number of you apparently did not know that The Last Unicorn was a book before it was a movie. It is by Peter S. Beagle. It is made of spun glass and fairytales and iron knives and there are individual lines that I would give my lungs to have written. Shapechangers replies, I saw him every year at NYCC for several years straight, bought something at his table, asked him to sign it, and we spoke. He remembered me from year to year, no small feat at that con. He remembered which stories he'd told me. One year I came back with a different gender on. He squinted at me a bit and said thoughtfully, "I've seen you before in this place." All I had to say was, "last year you told me the story about the inoshishi." And his face cleared, and he leaned in with a grin and told me about a German guitarist who he traveled with, twice. Who transitioned between the first and second time, so he'd gotten to meet this person all over again on the second round. It was a wonderfully kind way to let me know that everything was fine. I was fresh out of the closet and I needed that, and maybe he could see it. The Last Unicorn is the best book in the world and I will defend it and its author til I die. the end. /end ID]

I don't usually talk about celebrities; artists, when I do, and I'm keenly aware that one needn't be a good person to be a hell of a heartwrenching artist. But Peter S. Beagle has written a few of my favorite things in the world, he's an excellent singer and filker, and this Twitter thread was dreadfully important to me. I don't want it going away as Twitter becomes Shitter, because it's so often bad news, isn't it? It's important to me to share trans joy.

as a trans who used this book as a medium to help rationalise my feelings, this makes my heart so happy

Yeah... I think about The Last Unicorn prolly several times a week on average. At some point after my egg finally shattered in 2018 in my 30s, I started to worry, what with all the other folks who seem to need to opine and array against us, what that sweetheart of a man would think of me now. That's when my wife pointed out this thread to me. I cried. Happy tears, you know how it is. I most often linked it to people on Discord, but decided it was time to put it somewhere I could find it when Xitter was done flushing. I am very very glad it's been so important to people. It is important. But sometimes important things don't get traction.

A golden memory.

To all the people in the notes wondering how we got anywhere before GPS: we got lost a lot. Like a lot. If it was a new place we would pull out the maps, we all had local maps in the car and then these huge huge huge books of maps called atlases and we'd have one for every state we'd be driving through

And before a trip we would plot our whole entire route, and go back over it every night at the hotel, and we would write all the directions down on a little note and someone would be in charge of navigation and making sure we didn't miss any turns.

For local stuff all directions would be described in reference to other things. You still see this when older folks give directions. Do you ever get the "do you know where the ruby Tuesday is? No? How about the Buffalo wild wings? Yeah okay so from there go down til you see a Wendy's and turn left..." instead of them just telling u the address so u can plug it into ur GPS? That's why.

I have fond memories of getting helaciously lost in Kentucky because we had to go around a bad accident, and we didn't have a Kentucky map because we hadn't planned on going thru Kentucky and we stopped at a gas station to get a map but they didn't have any and my dad came back to the car swearing up and down about these goddamn Kentucky communists who didn't even sell maps in their gas stations,

honestly the funniest thing about this post is referring to kentuckians as communists.

Some AirBnB roasting courtesy of Reddit

I realize this is not at all the point but I'm losing my mind at the idea of a boring hotel costing $225/night. my fellow americans, for $225/night you can get an absolutely banger hotel. I stayed at a swank art deco hotel in chicago for $180/night. the hotel in boston I stayed at with the $7 glasses of milk was $279/night, but is currently offering rooms at $178. I've only stayed in an AirBNB one time (for two months, at $60/night), but if those prices are normal for airbnb and that's a normal thing you can afford, holy fuck just get a hotel. $225 is like one tier below "the hotel personally picks you up in a horse-drawn carriage and throws rose petals at you."

"School districts that don’t respect transgender and nonbinary students’ pronouns or force them to use restrooms that don’t align with their gender identity could be committing federal civil rights violations beginning this fall.

Today, the U.S. Department of Education announced the issuance of a final rule under Title IX to protect people in public schools from sex-based discrimination and harassment. The announcement marks a significant update in federal efforts to combat sex discrimination in federally funded educational institutions. During a call with reporters, Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona emphasized the administration’s dedication to ensuring that Title IX effectively serves all students by providing safe, welcoming, and rights-respecting educational environments."

“Both sides are equally bad” is false. “Both sides are bad,” sure, but in no way are they equal.
