(SPOILER ALERT! I Did Not Like It)
It has been 16 long years since I first picked up The Lightning Thief, and once again...I am faced with an adaption of one of my favorite books that is so painfully disappointing. And now that the tv show is completely out, it's time to purge the collection of thoughts I compiled on it:
Laika's still up there. not her body, sure, but her soul is. i saw it through my telescope one night when i was looking for aliens. she was sniffing for table scraps under saturn's ring. she chases comets and bites down on satellites. i saw her napping by neptune, she was kicking her feet. passing through the oort cloud is like the stroke of a hand on her fur. eyes like marbles and four little paws like flames. she bobs through jupiter's moons like cold moscow streets. up there the stars are a great big field. and look, she's running so fast. god damn, look at her go.
The new covers for canis the speaker volumes are so gorgeous!!! The fourth volume is going to be the last one so I’m assuming it’s going to be all three of them on it! I can’t wait for all of the volumes to be released in english. It’s been a long wait (；⌣̀_⌣́)
No offence but some younger queer people heard "nonbinary is not a third gender" and interpreted that as "no nonbinary person identifies as a third gender".
And some people heard "nonbinary people are outside of the gender binary" and interpreted that as "no nonbinary person identifies as a binary gender. no nonbinary identifies as both 100% a man AND 100% a woman because that's not outside of the binary". (????)
And some younger nonbinary people seem to have internalised "well I'm nonbinary and I don't feel that way so you're wrong", even though the entire point of being nonbinary is that there's literally infinite ways to experience gender.
What I'm trying to say is, there's an identity entirely built around not fitting into narrow boxes, and yet a hefty chunk of our own community seems hellbent on forcing us into boxes anyway.
For disability pride month (and the rest of the year) here's a shout out to
- people who have to take "scary" meds like antipsychotics, tranquilizers, schizo meds, lithium, opioids, and steroids because they're the only things that work
-people taking medicinal drugs that may be illegal in some areas
-people who have to get dangerous procedures and treatments
-people who will literally die without their meds and can't stop taking them
-people who can't afford their meds or their meds are so expensive it puts them in poverty
- people whose meds cause undesirable side effects
-people whose meds cause them to be immunocompromised
-people whose meds damage their bodies, but improve general quality of life enough that it's worth it
-people who get told to get off their meds constantly by people other than their doctors (or their doctors didn't want to put them on the med bc they're "too young")
-people who can't take medicine other than ibuprofen or Tylenol due to allergies, interactions, etc.
-people who don't want to take any medicine due to medical trauma
-people who can't take medicine at all and have to cope in other ways
-people who are addicted to their medicine and don't want to stop taking it
-people who are addicted and want to stop taking their meds
-people still suffering from unforeseen side effects that still affect them even though they got off the meds
Our relationships with our medicines/treatments are complicated and no one body is ever exactly the same. Please be respectful of people's choices and feelings about their meds.
I have had this in my wip folder for aaggeessss. Glad to just toss it out there after some touch ups lol.
Love me the glowy eyes and galaxy cape, I’ve got a headcannon that end of the cape drips off like a lava lamp and how the galaxy looks is based on Danny’s emotions; swirling binary star system when in love, beautiful gas clusters when excited, supermassive black hole when angry, just.. empty husks of an icy asteroid field when sad.
I also like the crown when he’s coronated turning into something that more closely resembles an ectoplasmic aurora borealis.
Star pupils and star freckles too!! I had so much fun drawing them.

The paradox of tolerance is only a paradox if you think of tolerance as some sacred and unconditional moral duty. Some ultimate and absolute law with no exceptions, and if you ever slip into the sin of intolerance, you must repent yourself and beg for forgiveness. Yeah no fuck that. Tolerance is a social contract. You're in the game as an equal player for as long as you play by the same rules as everyone else, and if you don't, your ass is fucking out. You're not entitled to the same respect you won't give others.
"Oh so you all tolerate each other just because you tolerate each other, but if I want to destroy you, then all of a sudden you want to destroy me?" Literally yes. That's the gist of it. What's not clicking. This equation is so simple it barely counts as math.
“Why should rich people pay more” because fuck ‘em
“So you are okay for paying more when you have money” I am not excluded from ‘fuck ‘em’ when relevant
“I am not excluded from ‘fuck ‘‘em’ when relevant” is surprisingly powerful as both a statement and philosophy
