Heard Her Singing | OPEN
The shadows were looming long everywhere, even if the night hadn't arrived yet, it was still dark. The sun's warmth was distant even if it was able to reach out and touch the bare skin that was exposed to it. But the light didn't warm, the light didn't comfort, the light felt cold.
He swore he heard her singing, singing in his dream with a far-away yet clear voice, almost like a bird somewhere in the forest, it had no worries nor was it scared of anything. It just... sang. Trapped and alone, but it didn't stop. She kept on singing til ---
Daryl flinched slightly, at first not sure if he was awake at all or was it just another half-dream he had been seeing frequently for the past weeks. He was sitting on the ground with his left shoulder partly leaning against a dry tree, he wasn't in the woods though. He was elsewhere.
Carefully he dared to look around himself, remembering and then feeling his heart sink into the depths of the silenced sound of singing. Daryl's lungs expanded painfully slowly as he breathed in before his eyes averted towards a figure of a person that was moving his way.
