The recount of old habits earned a genuine laugh, but not a single shift in Hatori’s gaze was missed. Shigure never missed a thing, especially when it came to Hatori, the dog never felt like he needed to analyze anything as it all came so naturally. Every habit may as well have been a shared one.
Hatori’s gentle, falsely lazy tuggings at the fabric made Shigure shift ever so, suppressing a minuet shiver in his shoulders. He’d never admit, but he was a sucker for tactile encouragement. It spoke volumes more than words ever did. Shigure loved to feel things, to take them in through touch, perhaps it was the canine in him, wanting that ever encouraging pat on the head, but regardless, it was something Hatori knew better than anyone.
“Hmm, no one usually likes to be called ‘easy’,” Shigure remarked cheekily, but innuendos aside, “Though it makes for less drama doesn’t it?” Truthfully Shigure felt quite the same, there was no front he needed to out up in front of Hatori, no act to perform, he never had to pretend. He simply could be as he wanted, as he was, and Hatori would comply by doing the same.
“But in your case I’ll take it as only the highest of compliment~”
“It’s just my humble opinion but.. only weird people go asking others to see what it is they do in their private time with all caution thrown to the wind~”

Hi hello! I saw your post mentioning another long one about loathing AkkiGure and I must admit I'm very curious to read it! When I originally read the series at 14, I shipped it, but my reread now at 21 has me firmly meh on it; tbh my main Shigure ship is him with Tohru... what's your opinion on that ship too? I love hearing all different opinions ^_^
[ A fine question! The post is so old that I’m not sure I could find it lol (plus it’s almost 1am and I’m lazy ;3;) but I can reiterate!
The barest of the bare bones is that I just flat out didn’t like the ship because MY middle school ass wanted Shigure for myself lol, but as I grew up a bit (and developed some sense) my reasoning for disliking the pairing became way more reasonable, in my opinion that is. There wasn’t a lot of (or any) build up to their relationship being anything more than anyone else’s relationship with Akito. She clung relentlessly to Hatori and Kureno and clearly loathed Shigure, then turn the page and they’re sleeping together and it was just so abrupt to me??? Plus their relationship was nothing beyond the manner of toxic, what with how they treated each other. With as much love for Shigure as I have even I can’t deny that he was terribly cruel to her beyond what was necessary, (and trust me I am no Akito fan lol).
Another reason is that with all the terrible things Shigure had done they just… forget about it and get together in the end no strings attached? It didn’t feel genuine at all and it just seemed like it was a “settlement” of sorts to ensure that all the zodiac members had a romantic partner in the end. So it was almost as if Shigure was being rewarded and getting off without a scratch. I think his character arch would have been much better settled with him not having a love interest. He slept with Akito’s mother to get back at Akito, then he dated Mayu out of no genuine affection, then slept with Akito for reasons, like… this guy does not need a romantic partner, he clearly has no idea how to properly act.
Regarding the Shigure/Tohru ship, I actually never really thought about it on my own cx like when I was first reading through the mangas and watching the anime it was never something that came to mind. My main ship for him before and after joining the community has always been with Hatori, but I have no ill will towards the Shigure/Tohru ship, I could even get behind it under the right circumstances!

I drew this dumb little comic almost two years ago when I first joined the AC team at Ubisoft. It has nothing to do with the game other than being related to Ancient Egypt, and was drawn fun and sent around the office for shits and giggles.

So what’s been going on~
[ It’s been a couple of days, but I wanted to let you all know I’m going to be rather spotty on all my RP blogs for a little bit. Basically… I somehow contracted a subconjunctival hemorrhage in my right eye ( basically my eye’s been internally bleeding the past few days, and the eye white is steadily getting covered with blood. It doesn’t hurt or effect my vision at all it’s just terrifying looking lol ), and staring at screens too long could strain my eyes and make it worse. Luckily it’s nothing serious and should go away on its own in a few weeks, but I will be going to the doctor as soon as I can to have it looked at! So I’ll be doing one or two threads a day when if possible, I hope you can understand <3 ]

So! Shigure certainly enjoys his career as a novelist, he even writes school text books ( I can’t remember where exactly this was said but I’m so sure I read it somewhere forgive me ). And I personally think that he originally took up the pen as a means to put his name ( pen name ) out in the world, thus even further going against the very closed in rules of Sohma House as well as to kind of spitefully rub in everyone’s faces that he has connections outside the family and a decently well recognized. He does write some novels “for fun” and the entire charade of putting off his deadlines to irritate his editor is something he enjoys, sadistic or otherwise. Being a novelist also gave him something to do after he was kicked out of the main house, and earned him funds as he pretty much had to support himself with food and such, and let no man state that Shigure would willingly take up a job where he couldn’t work from the comfort of his own home.
Long long ago, in a time far far away where I actually posted regularly, I very extensively explained my dislike of the ship of ShigureXAkito and everything involved with that couple, and Shigure “quitting his writing career” at the end of the mangas always rubbed me the wrong way. So, exorcising all that mess from my reasoning, I think Shigure would need a pretty good reason to willingly quit his writing career, anything else, I don’t think he’d be happy ending it. It gives him something of a purpose and fulfillment that feeds his famed, famished ego~
