"The project, called "The Topography of Tears," captures unique moments in human experience, but there’s also a scientific reason why every tear looks so different. There are three different types of tears: basal (lubricating), reflex (responding to stimuli) and psychic (triggered by emotion). Each type of tear contains different organic substances, and the molecular makeup depends on the causative agent. For instance, emotional tears contain the neurotransmitter leucine enkephalin, a natural painkiller that the body releases to mitigate stress."

Rainbow Boys (2001) tells the story of three high school students. One, Nelson, is openly gay to his school and family, making him a target for bullying. His best friend, Kyle, is gay, but has only told Nelson. He has had a crush on a popular jock, Jason, all through high school. Jason is popular and has a pretty and kind girlfriend, but is troubled by his home life as well as his growing awareness of his own sexuality and his attraction to Kyle.

Rainbow Boys and it’s sequels, Rainbow High and Rainbow Road follow the boys through their senior year of high school, exploring the issues of bullying, homophobia from families and school as well as learning your own identity in the unforgiving setting of high school.

Dead Poets Society [1989 dir. peter weir]
"We don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for. To quote from Whitman, "O me! O life!… of the questions of these recurring; of the endless trains of the faithless… of cities filled with the foolish; what good amid these, O me, O life?” Answer. That you are here - that life exists, and identity; that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. That the powerful play and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be?”
