Renault 4L, 1961. Also making it's show debut 60 years ago this week as Renault's R4 model. The 48th “Salon de l'Automobile” was the last to be held in Paris's Grand Palais (pictured) as the show outgrew it's 19th century home. The R4 remained in production until 1994

Fiat X1/9 launch brochure, 1972 (Italian market, edited). The X1/9 was designed by Marcello Gandini at Bertone using the transverse drivetrain from a Fiat 128 placed amidships. It was the world's first mass market mid-engined car. It remained in production for the next 17 years at Fiat and after 1982 at Bertone
