On Flight Rising I encountered an acronym I absolutely love, for the “invisibles” of the MOGAI/LGBT+/queer community. So, with thanks to SakuraDryad, I offer up the acronym:

BATPANDA. Bi, Ace, Trans, Pan/Poly, Aromantic, Nonbinary, Demi, Agender.

We’re here and we can recognise and support each other. <3 (Intersex folks, you may not have been in that acronym but I wanted to give you a special shoutout. You’re valuable, you’re awesome, and you’re not forgotten.)

EDIT: Thanks to the contribution of an intersex person who pointed out that a post footnote is not enough, because intersex people definitely deserve better and should not have been left out of the original acronym (for which I apologise), I’ve thought about it and come up with another possible acronym:

BATPANDANII: Bi, Ace, Trans, Pan/Poly, Aromantic, Nonbinary, Demi, Agender, Neutrois, Intersex, Indigenous genders (for culture-specific genders like two-spirit.)

//Reblogging the original because most of the responses to this innocuous request for inclusion are pretty hateful/reactionary. And that’s unnecessary. This suggestion does not cancel out the other initialisms. The OP is not a homophobe for trying to add on for those who are often overlooked.

The LGBTQAICXXY%ETC. initialism has been growing for years. With every incarnation of it, countless sites and print shops have to play catch up. Sexuality is a beautiful continuum to be explored. Soon we’ll be using whatever alphabet fragments we can find to not exclude anyone’s personal/biological preferences/orientations. In the end though, we’re not letters. We’re people.

P.S.:

Can Snarksexual be a thing?

Your fun fact of the day: It’s likely some Vikings would make grooves in their teeth and fill them with dye, essentially tattooing the teeth. “Why” remains unexplained.

At least it sort of explains why Sleipnir’s teeth are described as being inscribed with runes.

Passing this along. The source article says that this practice is one of the “better supported” practices, but fails to give any actual citations, which I find disappointing. I may at some point poke more into this.

All of you! Listen to me! You must listen! Have you forgotten what happened to Dale? Have you forgotten those who died in the firestorm? And for what purpose? The blind ambition of a Mountain King, so riveted by greed he cannot see beyond his own desire!
