Wow. Just...wow!

“The behemoth rumbled over the irradiated landscape, crushing the skulls of the scorched population of this once heavily populated city.

The atomic weaponry had wrought utter annihilation on this hive world. Any survivors has long since succumbed to the deadly effects of radiation poisoning or the nuclear winter followed.

The large turret scanned the ruins, sensing its enemy’s approach, the beast halted and dimmed its lights. A growing roar of another engine grew in the gloom, a bright searchlight turned the desolate urban infrastructure into haunting silhouettes.

Target spotted.

Tracking the Leman Russ before it, the IVth Legion veterans of a thousand battles foresaw the death of their hated foe. Flashing their dual searchlights on, the Achlys-pattern Assault Tank fired the co-axail Lascannon, with the beam punching a hole through the engine block of the Leman Russ, this was quickly followed by the turret’s main cannon firing and blasting a large hole into the side of the tank, catching some of the nearby guardsmen in the blast. The lucky ones died instantly, any survivors were now likely to have holes in their radiation suits, exposing them to the lethal doses of the radiation in the atmosphere.

The heavy bolter sponsons fired indiscriminately into the ruins that the remaining guardsmen had taken cover behind, their poor attempt at suppressing fire doing next to nothing to impede their adversary. The hull-mounted battle cannon fired into the ruins, collapsing a building onto a regrouping heavy weapons team. Another blast from the main cannon caused the end of the brief firefight as another ruin fell, blocking line of sight and routing the remaining guardsmen.

Smoke, ash and dust filled the air, whilst the flames of the gutted Leman Russ lit up the surroundings with an orange glow.”

The Achlys-pattern Assault Tank has been completed.

I am very happy with how this came out, especially as I kind of made it up as I went along really.

The next idea will be a siege tank version of this, with a hellhammer turret and either a demolisher or a medusa cannon in the hull. Also I may double up on the sponsons.

Here’s the golden boys all finished up! Not too shabby for only about four or five days actual painting (including one all-nighter to get them done on time!). XD Luckily the client wanted Guilliman all-gold to match the rest of the Custodes, which saved me some significant effort! Would’ve liked to spend more time on all of them, but deadlines are deadlines, alas.

@valiantbionicrope For the gold, I started with the rattlecan Retributor spray, then I airbrushed thinned Druchii Violet over the whole lot (you don’t need to use an airbrush though, I just used it for the sake of speed when doing seventeen models at once XD).
