I have to stop and think about what MBJ did during the pandemic:

1. He marched in them streets for Black folks (risking his own health like so many other Black folks out there.). He could’ve easily stayed home, said nothing, and rode out our continual trauma, but he didn’t. Was out there with his father.

2. Fed people in his hometown for a month out of his own pocket when the pandemic first started and folks out there were losing jobs left and right.

2. Made the movie “Just Mercy” available for people to watch for free on many platforms because it was an important topic that he wanted people to be aware of that is STILL happening to Black people.

3. Set out to make his productions more inclusive for women and Black people.

4. Suffered the loss of a friend and mentor with Chadwick Boseman’s passing. He learned of the death along with the rest of us, and I was very worried for his mental health (as well as the rest of the cast and crew) for a long time.

5. He’s trying to grow as a human being even with all the slander and jokes thrown his way.

6. And whenever I need a good photo for a story update, he seems to drop good ones for me to peruse and use at my leisure.

He fucking deserved to be People Magazine’s 2020 Sexiest Man Alive. There’s nothing sexier than a Black man doing things for his community and trying to make the world a better place…along with being sexy in his own special way. I don’t care what them other hoes say…them other dudes didn’t come close.
