welcome to my blog! this is a private, usually low-activity, roleplay blog for 𝐂𝐇𝐑𝐈𝐒 𝐑𝐄𝐃𝐅𝐈𝐄𝐋𝐃 of the 𝐁𝐈𝐎𝐇𝐀𝐙𝐀𝐑𝐃 series.

this blog involves a lot of lengthy headcanon and meta posts and discussion (as well roleplay obviously) that draws from all canon sources from sidegames, manga, novels, stage play, movies, etc etc and expands the worldbuilding ontop of canon. i tend not to consider the remakes as canon other than biohazard (2002). this blog is primarily focused on the current timeline (which will be resident evil: village), but happy to do any of the timelines or au verses.

please read my rules before interacting!

thinking about how the bow the bsaa sent in is just chris’ model but with a different skin texture/hair removed and it’s probably capcom just being very lazy (they reuse assets constantly and reused almost every va from 7/re3make) but....what if it isnt. its bad enough the bsaa is using bows but if they cloned chris to make them...

While the soldiers in this unit were trained BSAA operators, the unit itself existed outside the oversight of the BSAA and was effectively rogue

Captain Chris Redfield » ALPHA Dion Wilson  » CANINE  » dog handler. Rolanda Elba  » UMBER EYES  » veteran sniper. Emily Berkhoff   » TUNDRA  » former undercover agent (DEA). John Perlman  » LOBO  » machine gunner. Charlie Graham  » NIGHT HOWL  » communications.

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐁𝐀𝐊𝐄𝐑 𝐈𝐍𝐂𝐈𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓 & 𝐂𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐔𝐏

Eveline was originally created in a Munich research facility by the international crime syndicate "The Connections." BSAA dispatched a team to destroy Eveline. The mission, however, was not successful, and Eveline escaped. Eveline was then transferred to America by The Connections via ship along with her caretaker, Mia Winters. However, Eveline managed to escape during transport.
[.....] The aforementioned operation to eliminate Eveline was BSAA's failing. We cannot deny that as it resulted in Eveline infecting innocent civilians. BSAA will have to take responsibility should these events ever come to light. As such, we advise that a cover story is fed to the media and BSAA's involvement is kept quiet.

following the failure of the BSAA operation to capture and terminate eveline ultimately led to the infection and murder of several innocent civilians, the baker family, and the infection and injury of the winter family. chris oversaw the blue umbrella operation to eliminate eveline the second time, as well as capture lucas baker and interrogate him about his partnership with the connections - mostly against his will, especially due to his own personal history with umbrella.

this failure by the BSAA, as well as the coverup that begun - not only to keep the incident quiet, as another outbreak could be disastrous if the public found out, but also to save their own skin began to showcase to chris that the BSAA had begun to stray from it’s original noble goal and started down a path that he could not be a part of. with the connections being run by brandon bailey, ex-umbrella and oswell spencer’s right hand man, he was unable to simply leave the investigation as the mess it had turned into in louisana. since the arklay incident, it was he and jill’s goal to eliminate umbrella - including those who had escaped justice. this was no different.

with the winters location kept well-guarded and secret, as well as zoe baker being reported dead and given a new identity, chris was unwilling to leave it at that.

chris has always had an issue with authority, ever since the pre-s.t.a.r.s days in the army. so his impulsive behaviour to personally take over an elite squad, as well as classified information that he has access to, comes as no surprise. with his investigation into miranda and her ties to the connections as well as eveline and the project that created her, he knew that the winter family would be in danger - especially after mia became pregnant. after all, if miranda was promised her child by the connections, it was a high possibility that she would target mia - the woman who was responsible for the failure of eveline, and thus, “owed” miranda her child. not only that, but the two were both still infected - something that should have been obvious on any test, especially if they had been quarantined, but both seemed unaware of this - particularly ethan, whom chris had begun a friendship with.

chris has had a habit over the years of disobeying orders - the recovery and rescue of jill valentine only succeeded because of his refusal to pull out when ordered to - and after the treatment he was subjected to by the BSAA during the outbreak in china and edonia, he has only been allowed to keep his rank and powers due to his position as an original founder and his accomplishments. with the events in new york causing thousands of civilian deaths - despite curing some people - and how his remaining found family from s.t.a.r.s (rebecca) were put in harms way, chris’ behaviour has only grown more reckless and subordinate.

with the winter family cut off and isolated, moved to a location close to miranda’s base of operations, it almost seemed as if the bsaa were attempting to lure out miranda and use the family as bait. sending his warning letter to zoe with an attached note to notify her that she wasn’t safe (as meeting her in person would only put her more at risk), he departed with his team to eastern europe.

though he has not officially “gone rogue”, he is well aware that the BSAA has become what it was supposed to stop - it has been years since jill, barry, o’brian and himself have been in charge and called the shots. now it is run by the UN, distant and cold, and like any corporation, is subject to corruption. the revelation that the BSAA is sending in bioweapons is just another nail in the coffin.

during 2020, with the events in the village and the winters, chris has continued to stray further and further from the BSAA - acting on his own, with a team of those who are loyal to him, whilst maintaining connections to those he knows and trusts; jill, barry, sheva, parker, josh, quint and keith. he knows that if all of them left, it would only allow the BSAA to continue on unchecked and put them at risk too - so much like in 1998, with jill staying in raccoon whilst he went to europe, he has been operating of his own accord.

Starter for @goldlighter with Mia and Chris!
Mia can hardly believe her eyes when the folder is passed her way, stamped with a bold, red Confidential across the front. She’d been reading before Chris came in, curled up on the couch, Rose asleep upstairs but with Mia’s ears perked for any unusual sounds or movements. She knows exactly how many paces it takes to get to her daughter’s room, a luxury that won’t last forever; Mia has a lot to answer for, and who knows if the BSAA will allow her to keep this house.
This house…where she and Ethan had started to make memories, where Rose was brought home after weeks in the NICU, where she said her first word and took her first steps, and with so many more milestones to come without Ethan here to see them. She breaks so easily anymore, when a memory stirs and she can still hear his voice, his footsteps on the stairs, his voice comforting her when she wakes up from another nightmare. Time has started to heal her wounds, but she’s still fragile. Tenacity and willpower - and of course, Rose - keep her going day to day.
Chris’s presence doesn’t necessarily bode poorly. He’s a friend, someone she trusts, even if there’s still so much to work through. So many things she wants to say that hasn’t been said yet, that she doesn’t know how to say without potentially ripping off what scabs have formed over her raw emotions. She’s good at lying, good at hiding things, but she wonders sometimes how much longer she can keep so much in before something else happens. Probably not another Dulvey or Romania, but something, possibly more…personal.
Setting her book aside, she offers Chris a small smile before accepting the folder. Confidential can’t mean good things, though everything with her and Ethan and the BSAA protection offered to them - and extended after the loss of Ethan - is wrapped in layers upon layers of secrecy.
Her heart stops when she reads the first page of many, outlining a series of compromises, though her eyes fixate on one line in particular, one bullet point marking what page in this file the details are found on: Chris Redfield’s adoption of Rosemary Winters. Fingers begin to shuffle to the indicated page, but she can’t help the way her eyes fill with tears again, and there she goes, but this time it’s different. This time she’s angry, desperate, helpless. She stands and grips the papers tightly, the folder falling to the floor.
What the fuck is this?” she asks, angry at Chris, at how she’s crying again, at how it feels like she’s being stripped of everything that means anything to her. “You want to take my baby, my Rose, away from me?” It has to be a dream, another nightmare, compounded on the rest but grounded in a reality she never thought would be hers. No monsters, no viruses, no mold or infecteds or being stolen away to be experimented on while someone else took her spot in her life. It’s Chris Redfield taking away her daughter.
Rage tears at her, and she can’t stop herself from throwing the papers at him, seeing red, hating him in this moment, her voice tearing at her throat as she feels herself losing control of any ounce of stability she might have had. “No, no! How can I trust you with Rose when you couldn’t even save Ethan?” She doesn’t mean it, knows she’s speaking in anger, knows that Ethan chose to stay behind, but Chris is easy to blame when everything hurts.

It’s not the right time, but it won’t ever be the right time. He wants to say he remembers what it’s like to be caught up in this kind of thing and suffering the loss that comes with it, but he doesn’t, not anymore. A life lived composed of nothing but smoke, fire and funerals. It’s all he knows now. For three long years (his unlucky number, it seems) he’s tried his best to prepare them, keep them safe, knowing once you’re in this you’ll never escape it. It didn’t really matter. He had failed, yet again, to protect them. It isn’t comparable, but Ethan was his friend.

It doesn’t matter how noble the sacrifice, there’s no way he can really explain to her why he didn’t fight Ethan. Why he let him die there, why there was no other option - he hopes, when the time comes, he gets to make the same choice.

It doesn’t make it easier, though. He feels like a monster, and is thankful for the small relief that Mia didn’t see him barge into their home over broken glass and blood and take their child. She wouldn’t look at him the same way if she did.

Mia-” the papers hit him with little effect, fluttering to the ground as he stands unmoved. He expected this, the viciousness that’s suddenly coated her words, but he’s never been able to handle his own grief let alone someone else’s. “Mia, please. Listen to me. I’m not taking her away from you.

But he is, isn’t he?

He tries to reach out to her, to provide some kind of comfort - and if all else fails, at least keep her from lashing out at him. The words fail him, unable to truly find a way to phrase in a way that doesn’t seem so cruel - she can’t be trusted, she lost two children and people died, that her baby is a weapon. She’s a criminal and this is her punishment - he hears the words echoed in his memory, meetings and officials - no one has considered her a grieving widow and mother.

Sit down. We need to talk about this. It’s not what you think.” Her words cut through him. The same lines he’s told himself a million times - but she doesn’t know that. Or does she? Years spent on the opposite side of the business he’s in. They never talked about just how much she knows. Mia, even after three long years, is a mystery to him. “Ethan made his choice. I wasn’t going to take that away from him. I tried, Mia. Even if I got him out, I couldn’t undo what the mold had done -”
