because people are saying "germany has banned irish" or even "germany says the irish arent white" (literally please learn how to read): this is about the occupy against occupation camp for palestine in front of the bundestag and only affects the camp and surrounding areas. doesnt make it any better but the state or city have not just banned a language period and yes you can travel to berlin and speak your mother tongue

but why are they doing this? there are now so many protests and gathering for palestine around the city that the cops simply do not have enough translators to check if anything illegal or anticonstitutional is being said in arabic (and now in any other language because the protests are getting bigger and berlin is a very multinational country), but its not like they did only accurate translations before, they kept accusing people of saying things they did not say to denounce the protestors of course so its not like they are so interested in accurately following and representing the speeches and music on the camp site but its a requirement they got from the interior ministry for constitution protection nonetheless. they allowed arabic after 6pm that day because thats probably when they got to book a translator/get an arabic speaking cop on site.

Liberals will say shit like "Yeah, well Trump would be doing so much worse right now" while Biden and the Democrats pull shit like this

Fuck you and your lesser-evilism. I refuse to do the math you want me to. The appropriate level of fascism is zero. If you don't believe that, line up with the fascists and follow your leader.

Both the article and the tweet are disingenuous. Jenna Ortega never praised Hamas, but she also didn't say "Palestinians deserve to live" either.

Her exact tweet was "decolonize Palestine" which holds very different connotations. Implying that Palestine has been colonized in turn suggests that Israel is a colony and not a sovereign nation state.

Are you seriously surprised that some Israelis are not happy with people telling them that their country doesn't deserve to exist?

Their country doesn’t deserve to exist, hope that helps!! ♥️

"implying that Palestine has been colonized" yeah. That's what happened.

“In turn suggests Israel is a colony and not a sovereign nation-state” hey quick question how come the Palestinian population in Palestine went from 1,300,000 to 156,000 in one year?

London’s biggest screening party for the Eurovision Song Contest finals has been canceled, the venue Rio Cinema and organizer Eurovision Party London have said. “Following discussion with the organizers of Eurovision Party London, we have collectively decided not to screen the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest this year while Israel remains in the competition,” the Rio Cinema said in a statement on X. “The Eurovision Party London has been a beloved partner of The Rio Cinema for many years, and we will continue to work with them in the future. We firmly believe that the Eurovision Song Contest has the power to bring people together across the world, and when its core values of inclusivity, equality and universality are upheld, it can be a genuine force for good. With its own slogan in mind, we hope that we can all be United By Music again soon. We will continue to organize fundraising events for the charities we support, including Doctors Without Borders and Medical Aid for Palestine.”

Reminder that Eurovision is an official BDS target this year. And one of the actions they recommend, which can be carried out on a local level, is to pressure venues and event organizers to drop their Eurovision screening parties.

If you're in a country that broadcasts Eurovision, consider whether there's anything you can do to pressure local venues to also drop their screening parties. Even getting a small venue to cancel their Eurovision screening can make a difference, especially if you're able to get them to organize a pro-Palestinian event in its place.

This might suck to hear, but if you're a people pleaser that is motivated by praise and avoids disagreements, you are easy to manipulate.

When I was in therapy after surviving years of domestic violence, my therapist had to tell me that my personality was primed for abuse and we needed to work on that so I would be better equipped to see the red flags and respond appropriately in the future.

I'm still working on this, and it's been 8 years. If you tell someone how you want to be treated, what behaviors you don't tolerate in your life, what you're looking for in that relationship, and they react negatively, don't compromise yourself. Just move on.

This one's for all the praise-kink girlies: differentiate, self-actualize, stay sexy

This resonated with more people than I thought, so here are some phrases to practice when you would normally default to people pleasing:

  • I'm not comfortable with that.
  • I'd rather not, but thank you for the offer!
  • You're welcome to disagree, but that's not something I'm okay with.
  • No.
  • It's personal, and I'd prefer to keep it private.
  • That doesn't work for me. How about x
  • I respect your opinion, but I'd rather do it my way.
  • That is behavior that I don't tolerate.
  • To each their own.
  • I'm not looking for feedback right now, but if I'm looking for input later, I'll let you know.
  • Oh, I'm not sure I agree; I thought x
  • When you did/said x, I wasn't okay with that.
  • I don't accept your apology.
  • I can accept your apology once you've addressed the problem.
  • Hey, could you help me with x?
  • I need to stop.
  • I need some time to myself.

Just remember, your thoughts, feelings, and opinions are what make you unique, and you can change your mind later, so don't be afraid to say them out loud. Work through things. Don't dodge them.

It's really hard when you're in close quarters with people who insist that boundaries are fake. It's hard when those people are loud and mean and treat you terribly. It's hard when they know your triggers and use them to hurt you. It's hard when those people are often your only interaction in a day.

But that’s when it matters most. Keep using your voice, or they will break you further. You have to make it out. You have to survive.
